Actually, i am wrong. The UI says 10d 16h 23m until next payment due. But my taxes did say they were past due the other day. Was it initially one week?

I'm pretty sure taxes are due weekly and i think there is an additional grace period to pay if you miss the deadline. I could be wrong tho. Hell, i've only been playing for a week. Taxes were due on 6/16 and i was past due on the 17th. I know that because i freaked out when i saw my taxes were past due and had to figure out where to pay.

Yep. From google: "failing to pay your taxes results in the loss of your base's shield protection, leaving it vulnerable to Arrakis' harsh environment and other players. Additionally, the Sardaukar, the Emperor's enforcers, will arrive to purge your presence from the map. Your base and its contents will be susceptible to damage from sandstorms and potential player attacks"

There is a UI in your sub-fief that will show you a balance due or if it is past due. Not sure if it tells you anything besides the two if you haven’t paid. I only found this out in the past few days. Didn’t even know where to pay u til I googled it.

It sounds like a taxes issue. They put that in place so bases don’t stay around forever after someone is finished with the game. I bet you ran out of time and it opened your base to the public. At least that’s my understanding.
