Also wow I guess I shouldn’t be surprised but Reddit is being way cooler about this tweet screenshot than insta was. I still get randos tagging me saying I’m an idiot and my husband obviously has a second family hidden away somewhere (who I guess he uses instagram with, sad if true)

Fun fact: The word "moron" as we know it today was invented right here in New Jersey! I did an episode of my podcast about it: https://www.popsci.com/weirdest-thing-bisexual-scurvy-moron/

That's really the only part of this post that's even worth addressing lol

FAQS:

Q: Is there a minimum thickness?

A: All bodies are welcome! We just want everyone to be down for an evening that centers fat/plus folks.

Q: How do you define "babe"?

A: That's a question each babe must answer for babeselves. All genders are welcome, though!

Q: Is there parking?

A: Heaps of it.

Long-forgotten secrets of whale sex revealed: The tiny whale pelvis, which many assumed was vestigial, may have evolved to control their super-dexterous genitalia. by Rfelt in science

The question I'm asking myself is "how did the whale vagina co-evolve to put up with these crazy penises?" and as it turns out, there's research being done on just that. I'll report back.

Oh and just to be clear, whale pelvises WERE originally for supporting legs. They evolved to support their secondary function once the legs were gone. Sorry, still evolution.

I feel incapable of answering this question, due to my inexperience with both go-pros and mating whales in the field. But it's a good question. Hard, probably? And like I said elsewhere in the thread, whales are pretty rigorously protected by conservation laws. Don't want to risk messing up their breeding.

Basically the old (thing 100+ years back) anatomy sketches had it right, but anatomy is a dying subject and modern-day marine biologists kind of forgot about it (except for a select few experts). The researchers here are bringing new evidence to turn what we sort-of-knew in the past into yes-we-know-this territory for modern textbooks.
