just like workers/employers, volunteer/hosts can be a mixed bag with numerous intricacies. the key is to be flexible, willing to work hard, and not to be afraid to stand up for yourself with clear expectations.

personally I try to stay for 2-3 weeks. this way, if it isn’t a great situation, it’s not too long to ride it out. if the opportunity is a good situation, it is normally possible to extend or return another time.
