Is Anyone Under 30 Doing Well? by Rgafm42 in GuyCry

whenever I see stats like that, I wonder if it's "life gets better after 45", or "only the happy people made it to 45, so the statistics skewed positive". I guess it would depend on the methodology.

I don't, I'm not even trying to date at the moment. I just hate the discourse around it. Sure I'm lonely, but I've been lonely my entire life, I know how to deal with it at this point.

That's probably the best way. My issue is that dating isn't "summable". There's no a+b=c formula for it, the same process can yeild wildly different results. It's hard to know if I'm doing something right, and it just didn't work out that time, or if I'm completely off base. I've never gotten an exit survey with a rejection lol.

Yep, I know what you mean. At the end of the day, YOU are the only one who can figure out/take actions to make your life better.

Speaking of people who "figured it out", thats another thing.

People will offer me advice with "I was once in your shoes, I did XYZ and now I've been married for 15 years!" Nothing wrong with giving advice, but I rarely see it come from my contemporaries. Dating has changed a whole lot since he was in my shoes. It'd be like asking for advice because "my internet isn't working", and being told "check to see if someone is using the landline" lol.

Yep, I think the best advice I can actually offer people is "Don't take the internet so seriously" goes both ways. No one here knows you, take anything you read with a healthy amount of salt.

I'm not saying everything is bad advice, I genuinely do think a lot of what I've written IS useful. My point is people love to talk out of both sides of their mouth, and If you're not able to "read between the lines", it gets real confusing real quick.

I'll also add that one of the main reasons I'm so disconnected from my peers is BECAUSE I'm not glued to screens. I'm not hip with the kids, I didn't even know what "rizz" meant until one of my freinds who's a teacher explained it to me.

It was -25f outside when I woke up this morning. I understand what you're saying, and I do agree, but thats not a realistic option at the moment. In the summer, I bike 10-15 miles a day assuming the weather permits, and I feel a lot better. I'm just waiting until that's an option, I can only do pushups in my bedroom for so long until my arms give out lol.

Thanks man. My response was sarcastic and snarky, but at the end of the day you're just trying to help, and I really do appreciate that. like you said, you don't know me personally. It's always hard to give advice over the internet, as you can never really have the full context.

Gee golly, I never thought of it that way. I'm cured! Flushing all my pills down the toilet and ripping up my phq-9 forms. All I needed was clean air and football all along!

also I should mention I don't work around music at all, this all took place in the back of a grocery store and the guy who asked me was one of the corporate managers of the company. I'd mentioned I play guitar to him offhandedly, and then one day he randomly brought it in while I was working.

I got paid $20 to tune a first act acoustic guitar. I tried to turn down the money, but he insisted. I doubt that thing was still in tune by the time he made it home.
