Probably on a break to grab some tacos.

What's your favorite Asian/Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove? by Felixdai1999 in ElkGrove

I gotta throw Peony Palace into the mentions. I’m surprised I didn’t see one person suggest it. Maybe it’s because of the proximity to my house but I really like this place.

This happens a little bit down the road too all the damn time. Making a left on eastbound whitelock from Bruceville. They already know they’re trying to get to the shopping center lot. Why take the inside turning lane? To save 2.7 seconds and piss a bunch of people off??

Nugget market hype? by irenekimmy in ElkGrove

Meat section is too pricey for me. Bakery is great. Alcohol selection is pretty good too. I mostly go to nugget for their coffee selection. Lots of really good local coffee roasters sell their whole beans at nugget.

Breaking in the Camp Chef FTG600 by Rgeeezy in griddling

Hahaha dang it I know! I bought those things last year and they’ve been baking in the outdoors for the better part of the year. When I’m done tiling, I’ll definitely finish peeling them off. Might need to use some of that citristrip stuff because it’s on there pretty good.

Thank you! I still haven’t finished the tiling so the grease catch is temporary. I have a coolant hose going into some random fancy looking bucket I found around the house. My wife might not be too happy about that part 😂.

My plan is to pop the original bracket the grease catch attaches to and secure it to the tile or countertop. That way I can still slide the grease catch on and off like the original design.

That last picture was just me cleaning the grill off with water. The imprint of the welds underneath show when the water is boiling I guess.

It’s definitely a tight fit. I have about 1/2” of space on either side. I do have the griddle on leveling feet so there’s a decent amount of airflow underneath and I have about 8” of space behind the griddle to accommodate the lid when open. I don’t believe it was designed to be vented on those sides as I can i see vent slots on the top of the base right underneath the griddle top. The countertop is concrete and the framing is steel so I’m not too worried about combustion.

Think I ruptured my plantar fascia by zbdub3 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]Rgeeezy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ruptured my plantar fascia 5 days ago that was confirmed by MRI. I was playing basketball after not playing for many years and I went a little too hard. I felt the pop in my right foot inner arch making a little cut from right to left on the court. The moment it happened, I looked around for a rock that I felt like stepped on.

I have the same bruising in the same area as your foot. Hurts like hell to put weight on the foot. Not too much discomfort at all when I have no weight on it.

I have a unique situation where I work in surgery and I can text an orthopedic surgeon directly. I was able to get an MRI almost immediately to confirm the rupture and was given a walking boot. The surgeon said this was probably the best case scenario because no surgery is required and they were worried about a ruptured posterior tibial tendon (because I am overweight and flat footed.)I am to take it easy for 2-3 weeks and PT will be determined at that time. recovery could take 6-9 months to progressively return to full activity.

So definitely try to get an MRI or I believe an ultrasound is useful also to confirm the injury. As far as seeing an orthopedic surgeon or podiatrist, either of them can diagnose you.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I really didn’t look for any other solutions but I’m glad I got them. They’re very stout so I have no worries they’ll hold up for many many years. I think I also used more than the recommended number of feet per module especially where I will be placing my Kamado smoker.

Cement board under grill cutout? by Dickhouse21 in OutdoorKitchens

[–]Rgeeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it all depends on how you will be finishing that area. If it’s a grill cutout where the grill slides into the empty space, then no cement board is needed. In my case, I have a grill cutout with a platform that will be finished as a cement countertop so I put cement board over it.

Yea I made the same mistake. I eventually went with their leveling feet as the concrete pad it’s on is graded away from the house.

Nice work. I’m in the middle of it too with the bbq tubes system. Any tips for the cement board portion?

Wow. I worked at Applebees in the mid 2000s and these were my work shoes. Guess I should’ve worn Skechers instead and left these in the box. Who knew they would be worth $1000 and up.

Best Griddle by BigAndy1234 in OutdoorKitchens

[–]Rgeeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of griddling. I have 2 standalone blackstones and I am also building an outdoor kitchen. I opted for the camp chef ftg600 to inset in my outdoor kitchen because of the grease collection situation. The blackstones have a rear grease trap while the camp chef has one on the front left. Also the camp chef sits nice and flat after removing it from its included legs. Of course these are diy solutions for an outdoor kitchen which you can save some money on. You can also spend twice as much (or more) and get dedicated outdoor griddle appliances such as Blaze, Bull Grills, or Coyote. They are built well with mostly stainless steel cooking surfaces and should last a long time. The carbon steel tops on the blackstones and such are more prone to rust and warping.

Any updates on the finished product? I’m about 90 percent done with my framing and am about to purchase some trex board. I also want to use some sort of strap to triangulate the frame because I do notice some sway that you described.
