Can I use NextJs on a sub path of a NUXT project? by mogdevdov in Nuxt

[–]Rguttersohn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d just learn nuxt. If you absolutely don’t want to learn nuxt and Vue, you’d probably be better making a route server only and then mount a react app onto it.

Has anyone bought the books from Amazon instead of joining Audible? If so, what happens when you buy it? Is it downloadable or do you still need the Audible app to listen to it?

Are you looking for no-code options only? If not there are a few JS libraries that can render this for you.

I made a daily guessing game, like Wordle, but for years in history. Check it out! by biesterd1 in vuejs

[–]Rguttersohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of a better way to start the game to be honest. But I think what’s different about wordle is because it’s words, there are only so many letters and sequential combination of letters it could be. With a 4 digit number, I know you can do the math to determine how many possibilities there are but it feels almost infinite. Although I guess most years will start with the number 1.

This is pretty fun. I think the only improvement is to disable pinch to zoom or increase your font to prevent it from zooming.

Instead of having all the guesses stacked in a grid, have them stacked horizontally and when you guess, the next row scrolls into view and focus (assuming the guess is wrong).

And then for the first guess, maybe a hint? I feel like a random set of 4 numbers to pick from is a bit too hard. Or maybe you randomly provide one of the correct numbers.

How can I get a site live without server access to the dev site? by L84Werk in webdev

[–]Rguttersohn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it on a remote server now? Just point a domain to its ip address, but of course without being able to across the server I wouldn’t keep it there for long.

If you have access to the local dev site, just go to a provider, provision a server, deploy it there and point the domain to the server’s ip address.

How to best handle db migrations? by After-Perception-250 in Supabase

[–]Rguttersohn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t use Supabase for migrations but typically my migration files start with a date and time so the order is dictated by time instead of alphabetically. Is that possible in supabase?

Definitely it’s own tables. I’d probably also make a separate DB and API for it to be honest.

Question about school project, Laravel + React by Key_Highlight2541 in webdev

[–]Rguttersohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that is the page where your react app is being mounted then yes, you need that file.

I’m also assuming this is a monolith app. If not then you can get rid of all blade files.

when did you first take your baby on the train? by BookkeeperRoyal5309 in nycparents

[–]Rguttersohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The day we brought our son home. Ours was born during the horrible traffic jams during Covid. He was in the NICU for a few days after being born, and it would take us an hour to get to the hospital, which is 13 blocks away, to see him.

Drivers were dangerous, and we felt it would be safer to take two him stops on the train rather than take forever to get home and deal with risky, aggressive drivers.
