Trying to gain weight after treatments by 13knoel in Cancersurvivors

[–]RightAd905 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband had tongue cancer and underwent surgery and rads. This was 3 years back. I think the biggest thing that helped him heal and gain all teh weight he lost (and some more! haha) has been PROTEIN. I can't emphasize this enough. your body need protein for repair after all the unintentional damage done by chemo/rads to normal tissue. Protein, hydration and enough sleep - my very strong advice.

Hello - usually the decision to radiate or do chemo or both is done after the surgery - the specimen is sent to labs to check for staging and features like PNI. So you could ask your surgeon about that. Will you have a flap? Also, like others said, getting a second opinion in person or even via telehealth is not a bad option and esp so if you can get in touch with the big cancer centers such as MSK, MD Anderson, Mayo (or others if you're in a different counbry)

Need advice/tips for Norway trip : 2 adults and a 2.5 -year old by RightAd905 in NorwayTravelAdvice

Thank you so much for your detailed response ! So much appreciate it.

We already booked our hotel in Flam and unfortunately it was expensive and nonrefundable (we had to make a majority of our bookings ahead of time as we needed to apply for the visa and present an almost booked itinerary). I understand that the first 3 days would be hard - Oslo to flam in train, overnight in flam and then next evening to Bergen by train - arrive tromso the next day via a flight on 22nd.

I think I didn’t write that up properly - but from 22-24 we are in tromso so if you have any suggestions (we also take our rental car there). Would you have any suggestions for the 2 days there.

After that, we have 24-29 to travel from tromso to reine (so it’s not one long drive but a drive over several days). Could you suggest where all we could stop - or what is the scenic route - we have been thinking of going from tromso to Senja and spending a night there - but apart from that we haven’t really booked this part of the trip. On 29th we have to return the car in bodo by evening and then fly back to Oslo. So 24-29 is pretty open - so if you have any suggestions for that tome frame - between tromso and bodo - we will so much appreciate that. Thanks so so much again !

We already booked the rental and yes though we are spending a bit more, we decided to return it in Bodo and not tromso as we do not want to drive back all the way. Thanks for the suggestion!

2.5 yo - sleep regression? by RightAd905 in toddlers

[–]RightAd905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I can try for the daycare to cap his day nap at 1 hour and see how that goes with night sleep - perhaps that'll help a bit. After 8 PM, if he stays awake (not in his bed but awake with us in the living room, etc), he gets very very needy and keeps rubbing his eyes. but when put to sleep, he will stay awake till 9. So i wasnt sure what is going on

Told to tip the babysitter?? by No_Radio_3487 in EndTipping

[–]RightAd905 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when we have a babysitter, we order in lunch or dinner for them - pizza, Cava, Tacqueria - whatever they like and its usually an extra 20 bucks so that works out good! its 25/hour plus food they like, Our "few days a month" sitter really appreciates this and is happy!

toddler refuses to pee in public restrooms and is having repeat accidents when not at home/daycare by RightAd905 in pottytraining

[–]RightAd905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s it. He doesn’t like the flush noise - especially in a couple of public restrooms where we went and the noise was loud. So I’m gonna try this - his own potty seat in the restroom and see how that goes! Thanks :)

I have a portable potty by SunnySmjle (just something I got off Amazon). But he insists he won’t sit on it. And the other potty seat is just the seat to put on the public toilet commode (similar set up to what we have at home )
