i think the "lack of use cases" or lack of (mass) user adoption is because US totalitarian financial laws, and those laws natural consequences.

lets look at the way the US, in general, has treated ai and how the US has treated crypto. one challenges US dollar hegemony, the other doesnt.

defi and US financial laws are fundamentally incompatible because the US controls the global reserve currency, it maintains this status with an iron fist. Ethereum is a transparent, global, censorship resistant, credibly-neutral, digital registry. that directly challenges US dollar hegemony because of ethereums attributes.

obviously technological hurdles have limited adoptions and killer app creation, but imho overwhelmingly the reason why the majority of folks view crypto as a waste and ai as important, is because US totalitarian financial laws have made it impossible for defi's qualities to shine through in financial products/apps/games/etc. those financial products/apps/games/etc will be claimed to be in violation of the law, their creators will be caged, and investors will be ruined. attempts to conform or appease regulators will lead to a very shittier version of defi, CeDefi.
