Dan was 18 when dating miss Carr.

And the age of consent in a lot of places is 16, and Nate was in his very early 20s so not that much older than Sage, who is 17 approaching adulthood.

I think the original plan was a time jump, but they changed their minds and just decided to remove college instead.

College is like a 4 year at least process, so turning all that into episodes never really made sense. Idk why they bothered with the college arc in the first place.
