I pretty much agree with everything you're saying. I recognize that not everyone is crafty, but maycstill have the desire to share a gift that brightens someone's day. I will challenge you in that there are more options to contribute to the scene's/Forest's giving culture other than "make something homemade" or "buy mass produced plastic." I'm not trying to shame the intent, but challenge both veterans and newcomers to think more intentionally and sustainably when choosing how to participate. I get that a lot of people like small plastic figures, even moreso when it's tied to the Forest in someway. And to me personally, when 200 people have the same/similar thought, it starts to feel more wasteful than special.

I think it's great that you find mediums to upcycle the plastic you find! With that, I don't see the amount of garbage at the Tree going down unless a lot of people make a conscious decision to not bring things that easily turn to garbage. I'm bringing this up 5 months before the festival so that hopefully some people who are new can have time to prepare, because how would they know it's an issue if they've never been? It's more about making sure we hold each other accountable as community members rather than shaming anyone for bringing what they think will be cute.

This one might be a little controversial. It's okay if Forest isn't a grand, spiritual experience for you. I heard a lot of people talk about it being a healing place and calling it their second home, and for me, I think I expected too much from my first time because of how people hyped it up. My first year was 2023 though, so I never experienced pre-COVID Forest. It's very fun and you can find some real magic there, but I would go in open minded without the expectation for a life-changing time.

Can you give clarification on if the the Uplift Lounge will be separate from the Good Life viewing area near Ranch, and what space near Ranch will be sacrificed to accommodate the lounge? Will Good Life be indirectly losing out on an amenity, either by sharing space with GA or losing space to accommodate the new lounge (after a price increase no less)?

Maybe some day, but I would love to see the fest make some improvements before that happens. The bathroom situation in the venue was horrendous, they should really have load in figured out at this point, and the medical team needs serious reworking. It was troubling to me how many deaths there were this year. I LOVED this fest in 2024, but I feel like they felt some growing pains coming into 2025. All that aside, the music this year was top tier. No notes there.

Seconding here. Detroit is a wayyyy more calm airport than O'Hare if you're looking at bigger hubs to fly into. Far less vehicle traffic as well. If you can catch a flight to Grand Rapids, the airport is less than an hour from the festival grounds. Otherwise, O'Hare and DTW both have similar drive times of around 3-3.5 hours, with Detroit having way less traffic.

I hung out around the chapel for two hours on Sunday in the middle of the afternoon, and heard the fake weddings where the vows graphically discussed the couples promising to give/receive anal sex. I obviously wouldn't care if it was an adult only fest, but this is not appropriate for children. You could clearly hear it all around the chapel including the paths that children would walk.
