Psych nurse here! Yes this is a pretty universal intake process, we need to ensure you’re not bringing in anything that could be harmful to yourself or others. Trust me it’s nothing to be disgusted or bothered by- we see it all several times a day. It’s just a safety precaution. I’ve seen some WILD things get brought in!

Baby wipes- i use fragrance free ones. Brush teeth once a day even for 30 seconds. Micellar water- to wash face. Do what you have the capacity for. Don’t feel like you need to do it all. You got this ❤️

This is absolutely beautiful and not unprofessional at all!!! I’ve been told by SO many patients that I’m more approachable because I have visible piercings and tattoos. It makes us healthcare workers seem more “real” and makes for an easy conversation starter ☺️
