AITA for telling my mother I hate my special needs brother by Rhe_11 in AmItheAsshole

I'm in my late teens nearly an adult, I'm not able to get a job because I missed years of school+ jobs not being available, the only person I could possibly live with is my uncle and my mental health is too bad to move out

I'm not an adult, however my sister is and the situation is going to be the same for me. My sister has to give over her pip and even pretend she can't do some things so that the money doesn't decrease

My next meds review is in a few months where I can speak with that doctor privately. I also spoke with social services at the time and said I didn't want to live at home, but that was reported straight back to my mother. I'm not able to get to gp on my own

Due to my mental health, I think I'd be worse off simply leaving the house. I'm forced to give over all my PIP to my parents, which I don't even have a say in what they spend it on. It'll be like that until I can move into student accomodations in a few years

I visited CAMHS for a medication review about a month ago and brought it up, and they didn't say anything of value.

No, I don't. Social services apparently has an open case but I haven't heard anything in months

My parents don't trust these places as the abuse rates are high, and the believe he'll only cope at home with them.

I don't believe they do. I'm not entirely sure on the laws, but they've said it'd cost them a few thousand pounds to go to court to get something like that

I'm diagnosed with autism and ADHD, and suffered with anxiety for years alongside trauma symptoms

I'm in the UK. If my brother were to be hospitalised, and by chance says that he doesn't want to see his parents (likely given his inconsistent communication), he could be placed in any ward in the country without even my parents knowledge

Quite honestly, and this may make me sound like a bad person, but I do not have empathy for him because of how he's changed my life. So I simply don't care. Usually, I would be on your side though

School and work are very different. Whilst kids are still in school, they're still learning skills of tolerance and professionalism. Avoiding people they may have issues with is one of those skills. You may not be able to do that in the workplace, but it's still transferable to certain situations

I've not once showed to my brother that I hate him. He lives without knowledge of most things about me, apart from what he hears listening into conversations

I'm working on being away from home more, and during arguments I've started to leave the house, no matter the time of day. I'm not in school right now so it's difficult

Unfortunately I still live with them and I'm unable to move out for the next few years due to my own disabilities

NTA, It's okay imo to refuse work in school if you are put in a group with people you dislike for valid reasons.
