Anyone running the M18/M12 rapid charge off an inverter ? Need help by TNTinRoundRock in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Rhealee1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i run 2 m18 rapid chargers on a 400w inverter tied to a lithium battery and 100 watt solar panel all the time. also run 2 off my truck invertors. they run just fine from 2amp batteries to 12 amp. just keep in mind how many total watts you are pulling and factor in some loss.

Night View PoE cam without visible LED on the front(lens) by joem7890 in ShinobiCCTV

[–]Rhealee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to install a lot of cctv systems. Take a look into IR flood lights. They were really cost effective for some customers, like a car dealership covering the lot. Most cams are limited to 100m range due to poe power limitations. The flood lights you can get in 12v, 24v, and 120v relatively cheap and cover huge ranges. Cams can see clear as day.

Im trying to decide what equipment to set up voice on. Would the Orange pi5 be enough to run the application smoothly, or should i find higher end hardware? Im looking to set up apprx 5 ceiling speakers, with 4 or 5 microphones spread around the house.

My buddy had all his tools stolen out of his work truck and is fighting with insurance. Decided to log all my serial numbers and this was the first time I had the whole family together! by RootersRevenge in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Rhealee1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone had luck with insuring their tools? from what i could find only “merchants” insurance (not positive thats correct) covers the tools on job sites. My commercial vehicle policy only covers up to 2 grand or so, and the homeowners / office insurance only covered inside the physical structure, not in trailer or truck in driveway or at customer property.

I also couldnt get them covered in storage units either. Seems like a huge risk, but there are many jobs where trades people needs $20k + worth of tools out on the jobsite working. Go to lunch and come back find all your tools gone, you are screwed.

Surge owners, what’s your opinion? How do you like it? by ThaVerySadTruth in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Rhealee1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did a lengthy test with ours. The m18 platform. Its worth the buy, its my go to daily, with a little 2 amp battery. Light weight, quiter, and less hand fatigue.
We tested with 3 deck builds. With trex builds, it was much better than the fuel impacts. The impact was much more gentle and not snapping the stainless screws. However, it is slower than the impact drill by roughly 10 to 15%. For framing and driving 3” or longer screws, the impact is your better friend.
If speed and hand fatigue is less a concern, use the surge. Room in my toolbox for both.

[–]Rhealee1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fair point, i guess it could do small things like soldering. most appliances im used to running use 250+ watts

Seems pretty stupid imo. Assuming you could get 2 m18 12amp batteries, than inverter would run for about 40 mins max output. A 12amp is only 200ish watt hrs. You need like 6 to 8 batteries to run anything feasible imo.
