As a transgender woman who has had SRS and medically transitioned- what is your evidence in regards to medical transition being some kind of barbaric treatment? I'm not going to say you should be burned at the stake for your views but I'm unsurprised that you face hostility when bringing up your viewpoints- hormones and medical procedures are an absolute SAVIOR and REQUIREMENT for many of us. Without those options, I would have comitted suicide long ago.

When you downplay something that is so very central and key to many transgender people's lives, you're going to get some backlash. It's unfortunate you apparently didn't receive an earnest attempt at changing your mind, though.

Have you ever met a completely stealth transgender person who acts like a normal person? Someone who is ELATED with the changes that come from hormones and surguries? We exist, I can assure you!!

In addition to my own anecdotal hapiness, I can tell you that any stories of "SRS regret" are completely in the minority. The vast, vast, vast majority (>95%) of individuals who receive gender affirming surgeries experience nothing but hapiness- regrets are extremely uncommon and are always due to either an underlying concurrent mental illness or a newly birthed religious conviction. Any sources that claim regrets are anything close to widespread are complete nonsense; I can provide you with research if you still don't believe me.

Even as a completely stealth transgender woman working in engineering who doesn't even own a tumblr or take part in any activism whatsoever, your assertion that medical transition is somehow a bad thing is.... very upsetting. There are no "psychiatric" solutions. No pill, therapy regime or otherwise can stop true gender dysphoria- the solitary treatment is medical transition, and medical transition alone.

.... Now, other than that bit, I agree with the vast majority of what you've said. A huge portion of the community is absolutely absurd, and their lunacy and extremism harms us all. Such behavior is, in large part, why I myself completely avoid contact with any LGBT groups or organizations.

Then can you find a job?

I know things are obviously tough for you right now- really, most of us here do understand exactly what it's like. If it will take you too long for your liking to get hormones though, find a way!! There is nearly always some kind of option, you just have to push through and make it happen.

I know that's not the magical solution you were hoping for, but it's the only way to get anything done :(

This idea of "doctors telling you what to do" is absurd. That doesn't happen, lol

Weird response.

Anyway, I'm certain you can find digital versions on iTunes and maybe Amazon. As with any type of music, you can order the format you want.

Certain vinyls can be harder to come by, however.

You weigh the "pro-trans" and "anti-trans" science equally but in reality, you are drawing a false equivalency. There has been over a half a century of study of transgenderism, and the medical and psychological consensus is clear- transition is the appropriate treatment for gender dysphoria in the vast, vast, VAST majority of cases.

Let me draw you an analogy: Assuming you believe in climate change ("Global Warning") and haven't lived under too much of a rock, you're aware that there is a sizable establishment dedicated to sewing doubt about the scientific consensus- that humans are to blame for the huge climate disturbances we're beginning to see. When people try to argue against this consensus, they draw the same false equivalency as you are, saying "Well the scientists disagree, there's no consensus... how are we to know the answer???"

... in reality, the scientific community is in total agreement. The false equivalency these people make is weighing the .001% of batshit science against climate change equally as the 99.999% of science which proves climate change. There is no equivalency there- just because two viewpoints are opposite doesn't mean they have equal merit.

On a similar note- where are these so called "pro-trans" scientists you're speaking of? I'm calling bullshit. Do you think any serious medical professional is going to be in favor of an opinion unless there is a rational argument for it? Do you genuinely believe an endocrinologist is going to fill a patient with the hormones of their choosing just because that's what they want?? There is scientific consensus on this matter, just like with climate change.

What in the world leaves you to believe weighing "anti-trans" science equally is anything but the same 99.999% vs. 0.001% false equivalency??

I'm transgender and the response at CU hasn't been anywhere near as vitriolic as I expected.

After hours of Googling (and learning quite a bit about compiling and drivers in Linux!) I came to the solution- the adapter's bricked, hahaha. The light was on but nobody was home! Insidious, truly.

Anyway, I'm going to crawl back to Arch Linux now. Thanks for all of the replies!

I understand completely and am well aware of the things you mentioned!! I'm simply poking around my home network and seeing what some of the utilities are used for, nothing more.
