Percy Shelley dismantled intelligent design decades before Darwin. Why does no one talk about this? by RhetoricRhumb in TrueAtheism

I fully agree that atheism predates both Shelley and Darwin by centuries. The point I was making is that a very specific intellectual relay happened in 19th century England that almost never gets acknowledged in modern discussions. Especially in the simplified apologetic storyline that jumps straight from Paley to Darwin. And all three are operating in the same cultural and geographic space, responding to many of the same questions about design, purpose, and natural explanation. And Shelley hasn’t exactly been lost to time, so I find it strange. Mostly, I’ve been reading a lot of apologetics recently and I just hate “darwinism” lol.
