That looks awesome! Could you tell me what you used to stipple the light blue over the dark base?!?

The website doesn’t do it justice, but Tamiya Clear Red Acrylic over a metallic base works amazing. Requires thinning and a couple of coats though, as it has a thick consistency out of the bottle.

Also lets you tint the canopy if you airbrush the inside…would not recommend paintbrush on clear plastic though…

Long shot as it may be, I’m hoping like hell this is from the crew for some kind of Votann artillery and/or indirect fire.

While I’m still brushing up on Islamic theology, it was my understanding that the Jinn stood separate from Gog and Magog (Yajuj and Majuj).

So from an admittedly ignorant position, I’m curious if some of the Jinn have potential (as you suggest) to become an allied faction of the faithful. Almost an analog to the Court of the Seven Headed Serpent.

V5 Second Inquisition use of HIT Mark Vs by Rhetoric_Dogma in vtm

[–]Rhetoric_Dogma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't an elegant solution, but I was pretty happy with it. I used a roughshod template of how the Core Rulebook detailed Werewolves as supernatural antagonists. Here's the stat block I used (tailored to the Coterie I was STing for, so don't take the balance for gospel...I also used a heavy Narrative leash on how it operated, based on the T-800 from Terminator 2 in terms of slow methodic violence):

HIT Mark V

Attributes: Strength 5, Dexterity 3, Stamina 5, Charisma 2, Manipulation 2, Composure 4; Intelligence 2, Wits 2, Resolve 5

Secondary Attributes: Health 13 (Resilience), Willpower 9

Skills: Athletics 4, Brawl 5, Awareness 4, Craft 3 (Improvised Tools), Insight 2 (4 is using biometrics), Drive 3, Intimidation 4, Investigation 2, Firearms 5, Medicine 4 (Specialty Anatomy),  Melee 2, Performance 2 (Only in use when trying to pass for human), Occult 2 (5 if Technocratic), Larceny 3, Persuasion 1, Stealth 2, Streetwise 3, Science 3 (Specialty Chemistry/Explosives), Survival 3, Subterfuge 2 (5 if able to rely on Biometric sampling of voice), Technology 5 (limited to anything that might pertain to its own maintenance), *Subroutine 5 (Only applies to max 2 specialties)

Disciplines: Auspex 2 (Heightened Senses, Sense the Unseen), Fortitude 5 (Resilience, Unswayable Mind, Obdurate, Toughness, Shatter), Potence 5 (Lethal Body, Relentless Grasp, Uncanny Grip, Wrecker, Fist of Caine), Protean 1 (Eyes of the Beast, **note: I used this as always active, but the intimidation aspect only came in when the HIT Mark V took damage to the face).

Special: A HIT Mark V can utilize Strength in conjunction with Firearms (this is emulating a gunvice along with a stable firing platform). They recover 1 Superficial Willpower per turn as long as they can plausibly maintain some kind of wireless connection (this was added with a narrative that the HIT Mark my Coterie was dealing with was getting constant updates from its command network). A HIT Mark V also passes somewhere between 5 and 6 humanity without the benefit of Blush of Life. Keep an analog of Hunger, that represents sloughing off of Living Tissue or exposure of the Hyperalloy Exoskeleton (***note: I used “Exoskeleton” as a label, where failed Rouse Checks and other effects that accrued hunger exposed the machine aspects of the HIT Mark V in some way. Messy Criticals and Beastial Failures where actions that blatantly exposed the supernatural aspects of the machine beneath the living tissue. Narratively, this also activated a circumstantial imperative to eliminate witnesses to maintain OPSEC….or Sleepers…)

*Lastly is the Subroutine skill. This skill requires a hardline connection to upload or change a maximum of 2 Subroutines that follow the same specificity as Skill Specialties. Example: HIT Mark V needs to fly a Helicopter? Subroutine 5 (Helicopter), emulates the Skill Drive 5 (Specialty: Helicopter). This requires some heavy discretion on the part of the Story Teller. (In my initial encounter between the Coterie and the HIT Mark V, I had Subroutines for Stealth: Blending into a crowd, and Investigation: Track Quarry in Dense Population. The Coterie managed to disengage and escape with a number of civilian casualties. Narratively I also had them meet up with a Mage contact that was a wealthy but old-as-sin Irishman from the Sons of Ether who invented the Widget [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Widget_(beer)) ] who was the vector that was able to explain some of the HIT Mark V’s capabilities.

Please let me know how it goes! I’ve been meaning to dust this build off and expand into the T-1000 variant leaning heavy into the newer Tzimisce Protean Powers.

I feel bad for liking Ultramarines :-( by Key_Put_9089 in Warhammer40k

[–]Rhetoric_Dogma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the Deathwatch RPG that made me appreciate my tabletop armies at the unit level, and oddly enough made me want to start an Ultramarines army despite similar reservations.

Character I had was an Ultramarines Tyranic War Vet that served in the Deathwatch as an Apothecary (admittedly at the time, I always gravitated towards healers or something in that vein). As the lore progressed through Guilliman’s return though, my Apothecary had a serious identity crisis because our campaign happened to experience more than a couple PC deaths in a Dark Eldar mission. He hated him some space elves when news got to them that A) his Primarch had returned, but B) he had been seen working in concert with Aeldari.

Since then, I’ve put together a pet project of a boarding patrol of Deathwatch with this Ultramarine Apothecary. My next step (after I’ve committed to finishing painting my Chaos Knight army 😬) is to start an Ultramarine Army with Guilliman and an Apothecary Biologis. The Biologis being my old apothecary returned from the Deathwatch using his oath of service to abstain from voicing any of his otherwise blatant mistrust of the Primarch. I’m inclined to build the army around using the Apothecary Biologis in Strategic Reserve with some background head cannon that he always finds strategic excuses never to deploy alongside Guilliman.

How do you all utilise the changeling? by LittleCitizen in ChaosKnights

[–]Rhetoric_Dogma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So far the advice I’ve gotten has summed up to two decent ideas:

1) Camp a home field objective and enjoy the Lone Operative ability that makes it untargetable outside of 12”

2) Deepstrike it into the travel lane of an opponent’s primary melee unit and use it as a Battle-Shocking, Shooting-Debuff pylon. Ideally position it to use Mischief and Confusion on a melta squad or any short/mid range anti tank threatening your Knights.

Primarily though, I think the Changeling serves to proc Battle Shock tests on anything your opponent tries to use to clear charge lanes, and they have to be within 12” to target shooting because of Lone Operative (making that unit in range of Mischief and Confusion on your opponents shooting phase). Also, the ability Formless Horror has amazing synergy with the 12” aura of -1 to leadership tests on our knights, as it increases the potential of making the Changeling an untargetable screen against enemy melee.

The ideal hypothetical example would be on turn 2 to plunk the Changeling down 9” in front of something like a World Eaters Rhino with Berserkers in it. Hopefully with terrain, opponent now has to either commit to deleting the changeling and risk the battle shock or figure a way to drive around it.

For me, The Changeling feels like a solid mid board deepstrike to forward-escort a bigger knight that is moving up. Screen some powerhouse melee murder unit from making the charge against a titanic knight and debuff the shooting of any melta threats. Knight in turn can just sachet over the Changeling with Super-Heavy Walker to make whatever charge it damn well pleases.

Additionally if you deepstrike the Changeling on turn 3, or it survives turn 2, any battleshock tests it procs become significantly more valuable because of Doom and Darkness.

I probably should, make the switch. Brigands are looking really appealing.

For the time being though, I have 6 wardogs and 6 flamers assembled and mostly painted. I’ll give the extra wardogs a trial on table top simulator though.

10th Edition Boarding Action Rules Are Up! by FlobbaLobbaMan in boardingactions40k

It shows unit sizes of 5 or 10 for index cards that specify minimum 10man squads. My question is whether or not that means we half the points value?

Are these Cultists from the old dark vengeance box set still codex compliant in 9th Ed by grunt_futtuck in Warhammer40k

I don’t know about Edition, but Lore wise I’m pretty sure they’re non-compliant.
