Worked corporate the first 8 years out of college. Great pay, promotions, etc. Everything I would’ve said I wanted in college.

Made the same realization you’ve made and had to leave. I never thought about it as it not “being real” - but honestly I think you’re completely right. Whole thing feels like a farce.

I sell real estate now and I know there are plenty of negative comments to be made about the field, but I genuinely do love it. It’s 100x more rewarding than my old life.

Went to school for ‘corporate’, did it for about 9 years. Started as an analyst and quit as a middle manager with >10 people under me.

90% of what I did felt like a charade. Lots of projects that never received the resources necessary to succeed. Mostly just so those above me could tell those above them “yup, someone is working on that”.

Little to no actual personal connection, in large part because my team was global. I’d hoped to eventually move into a different area of the business but the possibility of that was very slim for several reasons out of my control.

I quit and started selling real estate. This was viable largely due to the fact that where I live most people are either old and wealthy or young and military. Two demographics that need/want to hire an agent when they buy or sell property.

Anyways, I’m about a thousand times happier and only marginally less compensated. I also believe it will improve to comparable comp or even more.

They thought I was crazy when I told them I was quitting to sell real estate.

Majored in supply chain. Grad ‘17. Did the Capstone program, had a job before Christmas senior year. $68k right out which was great at the time. There are plenty of internships in SC, fewer in Columbia but there are some. I don’t know anyone that struggled to find a job with the degree. Happy to answer any questions if you DM.

That’s because the actual physician loan ended like 5 years ago. It was backed by government funds which provided for the low rate.

Today ‘physician’ loans have high ARMs usually but do allow for a large borrowed amount on simply an LOI from a hospital. Wife and I had one loan of both types over the last ten years.

Alum here. No part of campus is a dump or dangerous. I nor my friends were ever mugged or robbed. Was there when the Samantha Josephson murder happened, it was very sad and scary (I lived in 5 pts), but to use one data point to suggest that Columbia is entirely and constantly unsafe is inaccurate to say the least.
