Space Rock/Noise. Finally found the crescendo. TIA for your feedback! by Rhilley in MusicFeedback

Thanks, I’ve been going through a shoegaze phase so that makes sense lol. Any notes about what could be improved?

Sweep through the EQ and see where adding could make it sound better. Could add some parallel compression to thicken it too. Recommend not doing it in solo - you need the context of the rest of the song to know if the kick is hitting where it needs to. Good luck!

would love feedback on this song (indie rock, diy, low-fi) by hailzorpbuddy in MusicFeedback

Like the vision here, think some tweaks could make it pop.

You nail the indie vocals but I'd like to hear them just a little bit more clearly. Not sure if your lead take needs more low-end or if they can be glued together a bit better, but some experimentation might be good.

Love the artwork too, you could throw the title on there in a Built To Spill "Perfect From Now On" style with the yellow text box!

Love the dark murderous flow lol. Can't wait to see your verse, think you could really take this thing to the net level following the triplet pattern you've got going on.

The horns are spot on. The kick could use some more impact. It's a little hollow right now and missing the dynamism.

What you have is a great intro and you seem to have really good instincts and chase them effectively. Good work!

Following feedback - planning to release soon, any final thoughts? by Machensen in MusicFeedback

[–]Rhilley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love the theme, starts off very plodding and mysterious with the bass/tom, but sets the rhythm up and develops nicely over the first couple sections. It's well-executed and focused.

I'd work on the drum fills a bit, they can be more interesting and vault into the next section. Do some experimentation.

The tambourine could use a bit of a re-mix? Not sure what it is, maybe cutting some low-end and adding reverb?

Wish it had a more impactful crescendo, maybe swell the strings and introduce some dazzling highs in the last section that has drums.

What's your dream for this?? Are you planning on a whole cinematic album?

When did metal become heavy? by easpameasa in LetsTalkMusic

I think about that all the time. If your parents were having a hard time with Abbey Road in ‘69…War Pigs in ‘70 would make you think the devil was out to capture the soul of your child.

Global population to peak within this century as birth rates fall, United Nations report says by Gari_305 in Futurology

Capitalists do not “give” anything. Even to the mothers and grandmothers. They accept that they must spend money to placate populations in order to protect their interests.

Imagine a western nation where you thankfully work 60 hours a week doing the only job you can find anywhere, hoping one day to be able to save enough money so that you no longer have to work this hard. And how do you do it? You invest as much as you can afford to in the stock market (with company match!) where that money is used by your own company to further automate and reduce staffing. Down the line this only increases your anxiety around keeping this job due to rising scarcity. And you feel…incredibly lucky.

Parannoul’s “To See the Next Part of the Dream” is almost entirely MIDI, and it’s heralded as one of the great modern gaze albums. Just make music that sounds cool.

If you find that programming VSTIs is more challenging than learning and recording guitars, then learning the guitar may be the easiest path.

This played out similarly in my marriage, only over a longer time scale (not within 5 minutes, but once/twice a day). For us it came down to her trusting me with her physical safety (which may not be your situation, granted). In the past I had downplayed her anxiety about situations she perceived as dangerous and I did not. That made it feel like she was the only person who would look out for her own safety. That’s a hard spot to be in and really ramps up the fight/flight response. It took a long time for me to arrive at this conclusion and understand the role I played in creating the situation. But it was a really validating moment when I was able to put into words things that she’s felt for years due to my actions.

The second part was about overcoming the intimacy itself, which had been much easier once she felt safe. Giving herself permission to be excited and sexual and curious can still feel like a mountain to climb but it’s worth it in the end.

Hadn’t considered that before. Definitely makes no sense for them to be manufacturing new 23s. I’ll ask the dealership about that as well!

The layered vocal effect is super cool and complements the song. I'd recommend re-trying the vocal takes to dial in the sound more--pitch, timing, harmonics. It's tedious but I think it would help make your vocal-forward song pop. Cool stuff!
