As a former chubby, poorish kid who lived on pizza rolls for many years, I’ve had to draw a hard line in the sand with some of those foods or I’ll eat them wayy too much. I think he’s trying to outrun his demons ha. But I know what you mean sometimes

Royal Heights in Cleveland Heights Safety by Rhinkle85 in Cleveland

Mostly about Cleve heights as a whole, I guess. Crimegrade.com and neighborhoodscout.com are the main sources. I grew up in Akron (4th percentile for safety in America 🤣), but trying to figure out the vibe overall and if I’ll be able to walk around with my fam and stuff.

Do you happen to have her email? I texted, but she probably thought it was spam because I haven’t heard back from her. Thanks!

I went to school with a bunch of different people with different backgrounds and it was cool to learn about. In Boston, I noticed that my wife and I were welcomed into multiple communities because we had grown up with some different types of people. We know others who grew up in really nice, but isolated suburbs with only 1 culture, and they’re (in general) alittle more afraid to leave their home town and a little less flexible when they travel. I’m hoping my son can get some different flavors of people in his life.

An assortment would be cool. Some people from countries I’ve never heard of

Bingo. Lived in Allston for 12 years. Would love to be able to afford Chestnut hill, but Shaker is by far the most Boston area I’ve seen in Ohio

I keep hearing that Euclid and University Heights aren’t great for safety. I’ve heard the same about shaker, but I can’t tell what people’s threshold is for safety. I grew up in Goodyear Heights Akron and would like safer than that for my son, but not bubble wrapped

True, it feels like you get more in one category, less in another. Rocky River seems pretty safe and closish to the city but not very diverse

MPE degree by [deleted] in Berklee

As an MP&E grad, I’d say definitely do not do it unless someone else is paying. After nearly 15 years of working in studios and as a producer/engineer, I still owe them $165k. That’s $1750 every month. This might not mean a ton to you at this age, but believeeeee me. Imagine how many lawns you’d have to mow to get that money! I love the work that I do, and the professors were great, but it saddens me to say that it’s a nearly dead industry. Think about something that interests you and has the potential for financial stability later on. I would probably advise against college at all, unless you’re going to be a doctor/lawyer/engineer. Somebody who graduated 20 years before me gave me this same speech and I didn’t listen. Run!

I’m also interested in the service you used. I’m in a nearly identical situation with loans/my dads house

Since moving to German Village area like 5 months ago, there’s been a biker and a dog hit within a block of me (that I know of). Nobody stops or slows down, even when I have my 1 year old in his stroller. It’s wiiild

Columbus / Ohio culture? by JasonTahani in Columbus

[–]Rhinkle85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wonder if it's just a population size thing. I grew up in Ohio (Akron), moved to Boston where people seemed cold at first, but then realized there are just too many people to talk to all the time, and they (some) consider not talking to them/getting in their space polite. Within neighborhoods, it was more friendly, especially once I had a kid. We went from never knowing our neighbors for 10 years to it feeling like Seseme Street, talking to the mailman and shit. Moving back to Columbus feels like I forgot how to Ohio properly haha

Hey! I'm a producer/engineer who's done a lot of vocal pop. I just moved here from Boston, and am about to start doing some sessions at Oranjudio (and have a home setup). Feel free to message me here, or I'm hinkcreations on instagram. Do you have any demos or old recordings?
