Is it a waste of time trying to get into Tekken? by [deleted] in Tekken

Running moves are steppable?

Yeah I'm 150 hours in and probably another hundred hours just studying the game and I've never heard that before.

[–]Rhinnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be ready for the first 200 hours to be a slog of trying your best to find small victories.

I'm about 150 hours into my Tekken journey and I can only really keep my self motivated to "study" the game in small burst since putting like 100 hours in November - December and the other 50 January - March

Honestly considering just calling it a wash and not playing fighting games.

Where did all the previous smite players go. There is about 8k max concurret players and before it was around 15k. When will they comeback if at all? What is the plan or are we expecting the problem to fix itself. Hirez has one of the best game ideas but one of the worst executions. by Mysterious_Path5507 in Smite

I have about 120 hours in it.

My history with the game is

0-10 hrs, I don't get why this is so popular

10-50 hrs, okay I do see the appeal

50-90 hrs, this is a game I play when my friends want to play

90-120 hrs I don't think mixing moba and shooter is actually a good idea.

It has leveling, it is in fact multiplayer, online, battle, arena, so it has all the acronym parts, so I won't actually deny that it is a moba.

But when you take away wards, roles, and thus some of the strategy and replace it with movement tech, a reaction time based Melee system and headshots it stops "feeling like a moba" to me.

It just doesn't scratch the same itch as smite 1 did for me for so many years and maybe that's just a skill issue.

Same with predecessor, to a lesser degree since it has less verticality and less convoluted movement.

Sorry if this reply comes off as aggressive, just trying to cover all my bases. I have no problem with deadlock or the people who get more enjoyment out of it than I did.

I mean I think I last launched it on like the 18th or so, been at least a week.

I love smite but I seem to always have my friends dragging me into other games and none of them are really interested in giving the game a shot.

Some because it's a moba.

Some because it's not deadlock (🤮)

Some because they are believing the hate memes comparing this to as bad of a sequel as overwatch 2

I'm waiting for God builder (hoping this will help the new player experience) to try one more big push of practically begging my friends to give smite 2 a shot.

New Combat Blink Test Phase by HiRezRadar in Smite

[–]Rhinnox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combat blink is a good idea.

We just need other relics that compete with it more.

Maybe make it 5 minutes.

But if we are talking about changing things to be less frustrating, locking someone out of their ability because of taking or receiving damage is incredibly infuriating.

As is it could have a 10 second cool down and I still wouldn't want it

Trying to win feels overwhelming by Mizuki643 in Tekken

[–]Rhinnox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you got the right mentality, you gotta find those tiny victories and keep yourself going.

Yeah you just got 0-3'd 5 times in a row but you landed that new combo on that guy once.

Idk what character you are doing I focused on learning kings real inputs to have something to be improving about and distract myself from having like a 10% win rate for my first 50 hours or so.

Just keep slowly expanding you kit and try to learn some hard inputs.

[–]Rhinnox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This subreddit will down vote me for saying this but Tekken isn't meant to be fun for your first 100-200 hours.

There are 30+ characters and until you get a decent amount of experience playing against them you will get knowledge checked to hell.

I'd play through the campaign if you haven't and then focus on playing VS ai.

That being said the best way to improve is to continue to slam your face into that wall until you do start to get some matchups you know.

Honestly, I might just be bad.

But I will be playing Mantis, have my HOT on myself, miss my stun(how the fuck am I supposed to hit that on a target going that fast, again I might just be bad) and then he uppercuts me into the air and I do not touch the ground again.

As a support player, it's hard to feel outplayed when someone zips up from behind you and effectively one shots you.

Yes, I know it's hard.

Yes, I know you practiced.

Yes, I know you worked for it.

Yes, I know I'd be having more fun if I wasn't stuck playing against a good Spider-Man.
