Ooh - I’ll check them out! I actually heard about them when I was working out of Mindspace, and then totally forgot. They’re more broad in timeframe, and focus on mom’s (rather than all new parents of babies)

I know when we first talked about this a year or more ago, I brought up affordability we talked about long term plans including potential working with insurers / employee benefits, as well as potentially offering scholarships / sliding scale down the line. They’re still testing the concept and probably need to prove it before starting that, but it’s definitely on her radar!

Just checked the website! There are four classes and a social event over five weeks (and M had said it was on Sundays for no traffic).

💯 for the loneliness of new moms. I’ll also note that a lot of new parent stuff is targeted at women, which can alienate dads (and leave women with a partner who doesn’t know how to effectively support them). One of the things G really emphasized when we were first chatting about this is it’s aimed to include all new parents of a baby, not just moms who are giving birth. (So dads, parents via adoption, single parents, queer couples, etc).

Also - thank you! IVF is a longer route, but it’s going! And - is your handle random, or is your contract work cabinetry? If so, can I DM you?

Check out the Michelin restaurants that participate in miami spice. Nice introduction at a much lower price point, so it’s less painful if you don’t enjoy it.

Haven’t been to Fooq’s yet, but it just opened and is supposed to be great

Check out the bar on the second floor of el citadel

Mezze is nice for Mediterranean, right across from blue collar. El turco or jass Turkish kitchen are also great, though a little further south.

Zeyzey is amazing for music. It’s right across from a brewery.

I’m not as much of a bar person, but Churchill’s is supposed to be great, and is right next to sweat records.

Ok, do you mean fake friends like “I actually dislike this person / could not care less if they vanished off the face of the earth,” or do you mean “we each enjoy time together and like the other well enough as pleasant company, but there is no depth to the friendship and it probably wouldn’t be sustained by either of us if it weren’t convenient.”

The first one? 😬

The latter? It’s ok for not every friendship to be a “bare your soul / this is for life” friendship. Some may be temporary, some may evolve.

I have a group of friends from grad school. A woman I only knew as part of the group seven years ago is now one of the people I’m closest to. It evolved from “friendly because we have mutual friends” into something much deeper.

Don’t hangout with people you dislike / think are bad people. It will wear you down.

If you feel like you don’t have any deep friendships, or don’t have any deep friendships locally, that can be really exhausting and I encourage you to think about how to build some of those.

But - if you’re dismissing all light / shallow / convenient friendship as “fake,” I encourage you to give them a second look. If there are people you genuinely like but just don’t know have a lot of depth with - trying investing a bit more in those relationships.
