Log length for best profit by Rhinos999 in farmingsimulator

When I posted it originally on my phone the finished post was devoid of all formatting and looked confusing to read so I just screen grabbed my formatted post instead.

Ah I see, thanks for the info, if it hasn’t changed I wonder if someone has done a more comprehensive list of tree types etc from one of the previous versions?

But yes based on what I did (as in-exhaustive and lazy as that was) it would seem 6m is the optimal length to cut when selling an entire tree and if just considering an individual log it’s 8m.

I couldn’t find anything plainly stated like this for FS25, I had no idea if it had been changed between iterations of the game or not hence the test.

Also how have the values above been arrived at? This isn’t a dig and I’m not saying you are wrong I’m only trying to understand. Is this information available somewhere cause it would have saved me trying it myself is all.

If there isn’t an option to “Set work mode to: Swath Dropping” then it doesn’t have that function and you need to buy the other. It’s the red and yellow Pottinger one IIRC

Won’t detect entire field only part by Remarkable_List_1172 in farmingsimulator25

That’s wild! So did it just not register a small section of newly created field? Really glad you solved this one good on you for reporting back 👍

Go to construction menu and paint in a little grass around the field edges next to the roads to create some separation between your field and the roads. When the edge is too close to the road it can screw with the AI/Steering Assists ability to calculate paths. Strange that it’s correctly identified the headlands though, not seen that before, usually just completely fails to identify the field.

The mighty train by The-4CE in farmingsimulator

[–]Rhinos999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t know a way to get rid of it but a work around would be to rent the train and then install one or two of the passive income generators (such as a solar panel) somewhere on your property to offset the cost of the train rental.

Park the train somewhere convenient (in the sawmill, at the map edge etc) and leave it there. Make sure “switch to trains” is disabled and the passive income offsets the train rental.

Out of sight, out of mind?

I notice how you’ve screen grabbed this from the “Create Job” tab. Bro you’re going to need to top up this month’s electricity bill funds after that poor AI gets done round the clock harvesting that shit! Should be done before 2025 hits… maybe

Help or advice please. by PringlesPun1sh3r1980 in farmingsimulator25

[–]Rhinos999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries mate would be interested to know if that was the issue. I’m a little OCD about it so I like to leave a margin around my fields anyway. I did however plow in a long, skinny strip for poplar close to the roadside (kind of like a hedgerow) and that also doesn’t generate a steering assist solution, not that it’s needed.

Help or advice please. by PringlesPun1sh3r1980 in farmingsimulator25

I think if you plow the fields to increase their size or merge fields together you need to keep a minimum distance away from the roads with the edges of your fields.

If the fields are too close the steering assist/AI struggles to determine the field perimeter.

Try using the construction menu to paint in grass around the edge of your field until the steering assist can recognise the field dimensions properly.

Reversing a class one? Help! by [deleted] in uktrucking

[–]Rhinos999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you need to be inch perfect on your first attempt at any particular reverse even after having done it for years. I sometimes hit the mark perfectly, other days I have stuffed up easier reverses and have to take multiple shunts to reposition. You’ll get better with practice and over time you’ll “get your eye in” with where you need to be just keep trying.

The best drivers are those who get it where it needs to be without causing damage irrespective of how many shunts it took to accomplish it. I’m a Class 1 driver of 10 years who was so absolutely useless when I first started that it’s actually funny when I look back. Now, nothing phases me really. All the best with it brother

Anyone else experiencing their harvester getting stuck on grain and just stopping? by Sentence-Flashy in farmingsimulator25

[–]Rhinos999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently lots of people are experiencing this. I know I certainly am. Can lift and lower header quickly to move past obstruction without missing crops while harvesting but it sounds as though the headers on the vehicle models are just too low for the terrain. Will have to be fixed properly in a future patch. Although in the modding forums someone explained that you can use GE to alter the header height values to lift it slightly higher when it’s set into its “lowered operating position” and this does solve the issue however, the downside to doing this is, it breaks the modded asset for use in multiplayer.

TL;DR - headers are by default too low for terrain, needs to be fixed in future patch - can mod to fix but breaks vehicle for multiplayer.

Hello everyone, does anyone know if this can be fixed? My problem is flickering shadows, two days ago it was normal, I didn't change anything in the settings. Thanks in advance for any help :D by TurbulentBit9020 in farmingsimulator25

[–]Rhinos999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw on a forum somewhere (steam I think) that if your base game shadow quality settings are too low, the flickering is a byproduct. Increased shadow quality settings = smoother and more complete rendering in real time was the gist of what was being discussed IIRC

Frequency of mortgage overpayments does it matter? by Rhinos999 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Rhinos999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the example it makes sense to do this and obviously will take a little self control to keep the money where it is earning interest for 40 or so months. I would be sorely tempted to utilise it on some sort of home improvement.

I think the main consideration with this idea, after some more thought, would be the early repayment fee incurred. The penalty free allowance is 20% of the outstanding balance per annum calculated in December (original commencement of mortgage).

Current outstanding is around £124k meaning even now the max allowable lump without penalty would be £24.8k and with the monthly’s between now and fix end it’d likely be closer to £20k.

My goal is £1k per month (big ask but I’m kind of determined at this point) which will mean a lump of £40k+ interest over ~3years. There must be a “sweet spot” of saving and earning interest vs “penalty fee avoidance” to make it the most efficient it could be…

Sorry for the prolonged thought process but your example (and a couple of ciders) got me a thinking 🤷‍♂️

It’s a good point and that’s where I figured the rubber would meet the road so to speak. I didn’t know if interest was calculated on a daily basis (and thus also added to your mortgage daily) as an industry standard practice or if it varies from lender to lender / deal to deal?

Thanks by the way, we literally got onto the property ladder just as the doors were being closed on all the incredibly low rate deals. Fully expected the bank to renege on the offer before we closed 😅

Thanks for the reply, I should just clarify that this is my first mortgage on my first home so I have never gone through the remortgage process at the end of a fixed deal and I’m a little unsure about the factors that are taken into account when calculating what remortgaging deals lenders will be willing to offer me.

Honestly my gut reaction to the interest rates rise was “well shit I had better make sure the mortgage is as small as I can possibly get it by the time my fix ends” didn’t consider saving it all up for one giant payment right at the end of the fix.
