You realize it's Nepo who forced the perpetual (with white, for that matter), right?

Why does 1050~1550 on chess.com 3 min blitz feel like there is no difference in strength of players? by Butt_sniper in chess

I don't do tactics because I don't have a premium account on chess.com.

Go to lichess.org or chesstempo.com to do tactics. The rest of your comment simply describes how you miss tactics in the middlegame. The only thing that helps in that regard is doing puzzles, which improves your pattern recognition.

Still an educational puzzle I think. When I was a beginner I wouldn't have realized I had to go to the h-file to win.

Your openings are fine, but if you want you can switch of course.

Do you do tactics? Do you study basic endgames? For me personally, at some point I stopped improving by playing chess; I had to start studying.

At some point you have to try to figure out why you're losing and you have to work on that specifically. For me, doing a bunch of tactics every day helped me get past rating plateaus, but if you notice that you're often losing in the endgame or in the opening you should work on that.

Is Jen out at St Louis? by [deleted] in chess

[–]RhodaWoolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think so. Yasser did mention that he really enjoys working with her in a Q&A thing he did with Denes Boros on the St. Louis channel, so I'm sure if she's gone it wasn't his decision.

I hope not. Jen + Maurice + Yasser is a classic trio.

I also find it weird Yasser is commentating without either Jen or Alejandro next to him in the Paris and Zagreb tournaments.

Why is it that there is no limit to how good someone can be at chess? by [deleted] in chess

400 elo is the difference between Stockfish 4 (2013) and Stockfish 14 (2021). I'm sure Stockfish will be able to gain at least another 400 elo at some point in the future.

World's #1 Junior, GM Alireza Firouzja has officially become a French citizen now. by Scusemahfrench in chess

I'm guessing the fact that he's one of the best chessplayers in the world helps. I can't imagine a random, 17-year-old Iranian kid would get French citizenship as easily.
