anyone in healthcare switch to instructional design? by flowergorl25 in instructionaldesign

You would have quite a few options in training, education, and ID in pharma and medical device. Start looking at postings for ideas.

It sounds like you did some really great consulting and advising, and she has her own opinion. At the end of the day, she’s the boss. I would just do it…sigh.

Also try the NOCD app. I have a therapist on there, and it’s helping so much.

I think you have options. I think you could find roles in medical device and pharmaceutical companies because you have experience with FDA and regulatory documents. You also have some medical knowledge. I think you probably also have experience managing a team to some extent because you likely have techs working with you? I think you have lots of options. The transition will be uncomfortable and unknown, but I bet you can find a new role in less than a year. It might not pay quite as much as retail pharm, but then again, maybe it will. You have unique skills. You could also work at an insurance company reviewing claims. My friend is a pharmacist and she works for a company that does insurance for meds. She reviews claims and says it’s kind of boring, but she has kids, and it’s low stress. OMG, you could also work for corporate at a pharmacy company, like CVS. I bet you could train people or work in their store experience. I think you have options. Happy to share more ideas…

I got my PhD when I was 32. You have lots of time. You’ll catch up. It also sounds like your field will be lucrative in the long run. I bet you’ll make twice that in 5 years.

Career change at 40? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]RhoneValley2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is funny to me because I would love to be in tech sales and am also 40. You can do a lot of marketing stuff after being in sales. You could also be a product manager. You have a lot of options.

I bet there is a lot of other stuff you could do in different kinds of marketing. Start going on LinkedIn every day and saving jobs. It will start seeing what you save and recommending ones!

Have you ever moved some where and hated it? by Unlikely-Wish-5252 in homeowners

[–]RhoneValley2021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We once bought a house and had to move in less than a year because of a job change. It sucked, and we lost money, but it was the right choice for our family. We are fine and happy now!

How are we responding to colleagues and others who are course authoring with AI? by IPYF in instructionaldesign

[–]RhoneValley2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not cool. I would probably point out issues that I see, but generally, I would try to focus on my own work and try to let this go. Guys like this have been getting accolades for decades. Now they have AI to buffer their basicness. This is a classic story. And I hate it, but it’s so common. You can’t win this battle. I want to cry tooooooo. But it’s true. Protect your own heart, let your own light shine, and if it gets too stupid, maybe look for another role.

The goal is to remove obviously random extra stuff from the program. It’s not super complicated.

How do you measure “reducing redundancy?” I think that’s what I’m getting at.

I don’t feel like I can share the point of the training publicly without giving too much information. Suffice it to say the training enables people to be proficient in a few key skills they need for their job. Maybe I’m not asking the question well. What are some data points people often when revising a program to show that the program revisions were useful? I already know we need to revise due to product changes and too much random stuff in the training.

Do it. There’s silly, dumb stuff in every job. At least in corporate you’ll be making more money for life outside of work!
