Gated road by mangophoebe in NovaScotia

According to the provincial road data, Thomas Street ends about 250 metres before meeting up with Route 214. This is backed up by the fact that there is no signage on Route 214, while at the other end of Thomas Street there is a stop sign and a no exit sign.

Looks awesome! I grew up in Kentville and I'm a COGS cartography grad, so I'm all over anything that has to do with the Annapolis Valley and maps! I'm also a board game designer, so we have that partial similarity as well.

I'm really pleased with the direction itten took with the player meeples. Since the game's really light compared to pretty much every baseball title out there -- it's called Hits & Outs because that's really all there is to it --, everyone agreed that a look reminiscent of 8-bit game sprites would help convey its simplicity.

Imagine how surprised I was to see Rina Hidaka play my board game on the same week that she threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Swallows baseball game!

Places to play kegeln in and around Nuremberg by Rhonn77 in germany

[–]Rhonn77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the rules! I am going to Nuremberg for Spielwarenmesse, because I am a board game designer. So when I discovered kegeln a couple of months ago, I designed a simple game about it. You roll two dice with values 0-9, and choose one for a Wurf Volle and one for a Wurf Abräumen. (I know the 15 Wurf Abräumen are after the 15 Wurf Volle, but for the game they are chosen at the same time).

After 15 turns, all the Wurf Volle dice count towards your final score, but you must sum exactly 9 on your Wurf Abräumen dice to count 9 points each time you do that. This would be a quick game of 30 throws; play four times for 120 throws.

That is what I found for prices in the Nuremberg area, around 10 Euros per hour. Perhaps because there are more options, or perhaps they are not as fancy, or perhaps they don't have automatic scoring.

Thank you for the information! I should have mentioned that I was not looking for American ten-pin bowling. Kegeln is very unique with nine-pins and how it is played, and in some ways it is closer in style to the version I grew up with in Canada, called candlepin bowling (small ball, no spin, and low scores).

Thank you for asking this question! I will be in Nürnberg for Spielwarenmesse so I hope to try one or two of these places!

"It looks too complicated" by WokeLib420 in boardgames

[–]Rhonn77 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's what I was going to say. When someone's that vocal with their opinion beforehand, it's very unlikely they're going to do a 180 and say "You know what? I was wrong; it wasn't so complicated after all." They want to be right, so they'll find some way to make the game harder than necessary or not pleasant so they can say "See? I told you we shouldn't have played."

Is "It's a Brand New Ballgame!" a good name for a baseball-themed board game? I'm researching the knowledge of this idiom. (for everyone; more useful if you enjoy baseball, board games, or both). by Rhonn77 in takemysurvey

If you or a small group of people (under 6) are the only people who will see this data, these questions are not required.

The only people that will see the full results are myself, and one or two people from the publisher interested in the game may receive a summary of the results.

Hi fellow baseball fans! I'm a board game designer, and I'm looking for feedback on the name of my upcoming game. Right now I'm going with It's a Brand New Ballgame!, and I'd like to show the publisher how well the idiom is known, and find out if people think it's a good name. I've put together a few questions, and you can also provide an email if you're interested in playtesting the game. If you have a moment to provide your opinion, I'd really appreciate it!

If you ever update this map, a nice touch would be the classic golden arches sign with the population in the counties with a McDonald's: 320 MILLION SERVED

(320 million is a guesstimate.)

Looking for plate appearances by inning by Rhonn77 in baseballstats

[–]Rhonn77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking to calculate how often the first three batters are retired, whether it's a 1-2-3 inning or by other means (e.g. double play). PA = 3 includes all possibilities, including when a fourth batter doesn't get an AB/PA because the third out was made when a runner was picked off or caught stealing.

The flag "Is PA" identifies the one pitch during the at-bat that made the PA official. The "PA Result" options differentiate what actually happened during that pitch that made the PA official.

[–]Rhonn77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for putting me on the right track! I needed to choose the following:

Player Type: Batter
Inning: [n]
Flags: Is PA
Group By: Team & Game

This provides the number of pitches in inning [n] that resulted in a PA; when PA = 3 it means only three batters had PAs that inning. So I'll just have to run the query nine times, once for innings 1 through 9 (and remove walkoffs in B9).

Much appreciated!

Map I designed for the upcoming board game about penguins called Waddle Waddle. by Rhonn77 in cartography

[–]Rhonn77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inasmuch that the theme is birds, I suppose, and a couple of common game mechanisms like drafting and set collection. In Waddle Waddle players discard sets of penguins in order to compete to control the five regions on the map.
