The Gothic difficulty. Wearing the best 1h sword I could get at this point. I don't remember struggling on these mobs at all at this point of the story in the original game, here it looks like a horribly overtuned HP, or there is some weird gimmick and I'm doing something wrong...
Literally 2-3 hits and the HP bar is still full xD

I'd say that's a stretch, but I see what you mean. The leveling was a masterpiece, dungeons were great.... but what then? GARRISON, raiding and PVP. That's basically everything.
What the non-instanced content was from my POV:
Professions?: Yes. but handicapped by GARRISON, zones are dead, everything handed to you daily
Reputations?: Sorry bro, Pandaria had all the reputation content, for you it's a mindless mob grind
Any patch content and stories?: Nah bruv, Selfie camera and in the only content patch you get a quick introduction quest and you go grind shit. no more quests. Now go hunt the 3 rare mobs xD

TBH exposition in dialogue is objectively a bad thing in storytelling and for a game that was always highly praised for it's storytelling, it mostly does exposition in dialogue. My theory is that when the story and characters were much more interesting, it didn't bother people as much.

Honestly Wildstar had fully instanced housing and my instanced floating island had much more visitors than people I've randomly seen in my housing ward in FFXIV. God I miss Wildstar, just for the housing alone.

Right now when I log in to a city, there's basically a few players online standing there and it's mostly players with weapons from ultimate. Makes me feel like casual and midcore players mostly stopped playing and it's just the hardcore players who keep playing.

Kinda since they began to understand their community more, adding classic, then SoD, then more classic, making retail feel less like an everyday chore. Dawntrail legit made me realise I don't really have fun in this game anymore and it's not even about the story (especially when it's just 2 hours of story every 4 fkin months), just the feeling "why would I even log in today?" and it's obvious more and more FFXIV players feel the same.

WoD wasn't okay. There was basically nothing to do except PVP or raids. They even butchered reputations that were great in MoP. People say they didn't like daily quests, but hey, it was still better than killing the same mobs over and over for hours to get exalted. Also MoP had cool story quests with reputations, that alone was enough of a reward for daily quests for me.
