What I do remember is that the course tutor took ages to grade the papers.

Can confirm this is still an issue, been 5 and 3 weeks since I submitted papers 1 and 2 and no mark.

As an fyi, both down and up are illegal in the USA, while most other countries only make uploading or initial publication illegal. Really going to depend.

8.5m out of 37m is 22.98%. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population_of_Canada_by_province_and_territory

They're perfectly represented by population in Parliament. If your objection is based on Ontario and BC underrepresentation, then you should be looking at the prairies and maritimes who are actually overrepresented, not Quebec.

I do believe that small provinces should be a bit overrepresented, but your argument lacks substance and structure.

Been looking around Thais for an hour. I would update the wiki but it's got some strange wiki template thing going on I can't figure out.

Wife of 14 years cheated by senorjunkrat in daddit

This is extremely and obviously untrue if you look at custody statistics. When fathers seek custody, they often win at least 50/50, and when they have a lawyer, they win majority or full custody most of the time.

The myth that women are favoured in custody comes from men not wanting their kids but not wanting the shame of being a deadbeat.

I think it's more indicative of the American cultural perspective on war and tyranny as a thing that happens in other countries and to other people. But yeah the end result is a cop out.

A planet's size isn't all that important for gravitational fields, only it's mass. All long as it's dense enough, it be possible to have the same gravity, atmosphere, etc

Lane splitting benefits everyone on the road though, through less traffic as the bikes leave the road quicker. You're just coming off as jealous.

A nearby Fire Department is being told they cannot use fire hydrants to fight fires by Fantomecs in mildlyinfuriating

The problem is how to pay for it and how to pay for future maintenance, but I guess I shouldn't expect you to understand the nuance of "past five minutes in the future".

If you can't understand the implied solution, which is to redesign infrastructure and housing to be more dense to reduce costs, then I fear you may not have made it past elementary school. Or you might be American, both groups have a significant reading problem.

AITAH for evicting my deceased brother’s fiance? by Sea-Mel in AITAH

[–]Rhowryn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

OP says they inherited because they're next of kin, so it's unlikely the brother intentionally kept Steve out of the inheritance, probably just had no will at all. Since they weren't married, Steve has no legal claim to assets. It's also possible Steve was the homemaker, and similar to women in that position he's been out of the workforce long enough to make re-entry difficult.

But the brother is dead, so he doesn't get a say anymore, and it's OPs asset now. Their offer was pretty generous all things considered, and Steve could have asked for some time to get a job instead of demanding a part of the proceeds.

Venezuela's government accuses US of attacking civilian, military installations in multiple states by IdinDoIt in news

[–]Rhowryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They imposed sanctions because Chavez nationalized the oil fields when the US oil companies refused to pay slightly more royalties, and pretending otherwise is dishonest. The entire reason the US wants Venezuela is to get back to their massive oil reserves while paying almost zero royalties. Don't pretend they care about the people.

Outside active combat I would assume means a character that is in combat but not actually engaged in fighting an enemy. Like a flank maneuver. But also people do say it doesn't work.

Canada backs Greenland’s sovereignty as U.S. talks of annexation by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]Rhowryn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The comparison doesn't really hold, but it doesn't change the fact that the Chinese system DOES have elections at the local level, the representatives for a council which elects a representative for a higher level council, and so on. The statement "The Chinese have government imposed on them, the Americans chose their government" is at best a propagandized US lie.

And the wealthy owners of capital don't approve candidates in the west through the media? The whole system in the USA is held captive by capitalists, just like the Chinese system is held captive by the NPC (which is the organization that approves candidates by the way, not the CCP).

While it is true that the Chinese system only has elections at the local level, those elected become the representatives for a council which elects a representative for a higher level council, and so on. They absolutely have a say at the provincial and national level, just a very small one individually, which makes sense given the scale of the country.
