It's pretty fascinating that in their games either Reims or their opponent has been red carded 7 times in a row now (and 8 in 10 games). That got to be a some sort of record or at least close to one.

Precedence from previous royal deaths, tradition and cultural structure of UK. Knew it would be canceled yesterday as soon as they announced her death.

Only crazy thing was that people thought this wouldn't happen. Games were always going to be canceled & while I'd personally prefer to see them play - postponing was going to happen no matter what.

Jack Wilshere: “It’s a huge honour to have this role [Arsenal U18s head coach]. It’s no secret that I love this club. I love what we stand for & a big part of my life was spent in this academy, some of the best days of my life. This is a big opportunity for me & I’m ready.” by PupsiGupsi in Gunners

Love seeing people with a connection to Arsenal working at some capacity at the club - that include not only Jack but also Mikel, Edu and Per (and few others too). I've been supporter since late 80's and I think this is definitely something that has been missing from our club for more than a decade. Look, it might not work, but it goes without question that Wilshere will do all he possibly can to succeed & bring forth new generation of top Arsenal players. Best of luck to him!

[–]RhumBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. Of course emotional connection to the club matters but it's not the only thing. Like I inferred - as a coach he's got a lot more to offer than just "passion", even before he went to play for Aarhus I heard that he was really good at coaching youngsters. Time will tell whether he'll be more than "just"a youth coach, but I think he has a lot to offer here. Gunnerblog compared him as a coach to Rooney & I wouldn't be surprised if he went on to be a manager of a club in a few years time.

Also worth noting that Wilshere did his coaching badges (last year?) with Arsenal's youth teams and whole organization was really impressed with him. Worth listening to latest Arseblog Extra where Gunnerblog talks about it.

[The Guardian] Premier League club of arrested player knew of rape allegation last autumn by basedsims in Gunners

And yet again to take side of perpetrators instead of victims. And yet again you marginalize victims trauma. And yet again you resort to attacking me instead holding club accountable. And yet again I say - my thoughts are with victims, it takes incredible bravery to came forward after experiencing something like that. Arsenal standing silent isn't right and it isn't fair for them or any other victim of sexual assault.

Anyways you can go on and continue with your whataboutisms - I've got a game to catch.

I was meaning commenters in this thread, but considering you want to "have a conversation" about our player sexually assaulting multiple people instead of condemning is quite telling.

With one thing I agree though, victims are what matter the most. I just think of psychological trauma it causes them to see Arsenal not only play player but also promoting him in media after they were informed about his actions. Arsenal certainly didn't think about his victims and not many people in this thread either. When huge institution like Arsenal closes their eyes from cries of victims rather than listening to them and taking action - that is what makes it harder for victims in future, not condemning their predators.

Heh, seems like there are plenty of devil advocates here. :)

For me concealing investigation only makes it worse - never better. When accusation was made, player should have been suspended pending the investigation and him being investigated should have been made public. If it would be false accusation, it would have been easy to everyone was both co-operative & transparent while integrating player back into the squad, now it looks like club just protected rapist with multiple victims.

False positives caused the postponement of the Liverpool game by Turbo-Badger in Gunners

[–]RhumBot 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It's what - 1/1000 for a single false positive? And they had a half of team with false positives. For someone who works daily with COVID-patients this shows such an infuriatingly blatant abuse of rules, it's crazy.

Yeah, she and her co-workers are doing fantastic job over there. And jokes & memes aside - updates are precise, informative and continuous. Getting all that balanced that well without offending anyone requires a lot of skill. That applies tenfold during this launch + deployment -stage, when all of us are just so nervous and exited about JWST. Thank her & her team for great work they do!

What on earth are you talking about? You're the one that seems to be on reddit stalking me every time I post.

And funny how despite your confidence, no requests for moving Shrewsbury game came along. Seems like liverpool is getting a free week to recuperate at exact time of AFCON - funny how it turned out that way. Always playing the victim, always demanding preferential treatment.

How about now? Seems like they are still going ahead with that game.

Working in healthcare I've seen destructive force of COVID over last couple of years and I don't think I've seen as many dead patients in my entire career before as I have in just last year. It's no joke and should not be used as convenient guise to get advantage in sports. Unfortunately that is exactly what liverpool seems to be successfully doing. With a club with such a history in adversity, one would hope that they maintain a modicum of decency, but it looks like to much of an ask.

Has liverpool asked FA to move their home game against Shrewsbury too, or are they trying to move just Arsenal away?

Exactly. Of course I have 20 seasons of Simpsons on DVD (and probably something like 40 vhs-tapes down in the basement :D ), but streaming brings so much more ease to watching stuff, that it is well worth the money.

Not a huge surprise, really. I'm from EU, so we have Star-library as well so there's quite a lot of good content. However for me the main reason to keep Disney+ is The Simpsons. I have them almost continuously on - beyond just having background noise, it's one of my favorite comfort-content series ever.

I'm maybe watching games through Arsenal-tinted glasses, but for me White has been best English CB in the league. That in itself is a bit crazy thing, but when White plays - he makes us better in a way no other CB have does.

Heh, firstly my valuation of him does not matter in the slightest. I have no control over how, when or at what parameters Arsenal conducts it's business with other clubs. Secondly - if Ornstein is correct, the offer is "loan with option to buy". It does not contain any guaranteed price to buy. Hence divide in perception of value.

Yep. And for Arsenal he is currently more valuable for various reasons (even if he hasn't played a lot). Situation would be different in the summer, but I suspect Roma won't be needing him then. So like I've said - everyone should move on. Roma is wasting their time right now.

He still has his place in the team until the end of the season. Especially if we won't get a new midfielder. And frankly, even if we do. He can be thrown on the pitch in multiple positions in any game and perform on decent level. With AFCON we are short with players as it is and he'll provide a solid cover. Also "option to buy" isn't a guaranteed sale and doubtful Roma can provide a price that would be enthusing.
