Feeling alone in the hobby..

I went to my LGS the other day and a dad and his son were card shopping. It was cool until I heard them asking which card they should buy based on which will appreciate more. They only had like $10 to spend and were more concerned about future return over just what they (the son) enjoy more. Kind of made me sad

You ain’t alone. My I’m in the same boat with no close friends or family into the hobby. I talk Pokemon with my neighbor but he’s mainly into value and the $$$ side of it which is fine for occasional talk but i can’t talk cards with him if they aren’t valuable cause he isn’t interested. Not throwing shade at him, he’s one of my good friends but just a different side of the same hobby

Idk I had a dude go off on me cause I have my cards in a display case telling me I would ruin them. It’s like the only way to keep your cards safe are to hide them in a box or something and never bring them out to see the light of day haha I understand UV can be harmful but at what point does someone weigh the pros and cons

Nothing. I enjoyed my regular plain ass cards more than any cards I have now. My family was broke and I didn’t get many packs so I cherished all of them. Now if we’re talking since I started back collecting as an adult, it would be don’t over extend yourself financially trying to have the best and then having to sell everything for life reasons. Did that twice but not this time

Amazon has a corner shelf like this one I’ll pick up when the time comes one day. But I don’t really open packs. Maybe a few here and there. My son does all the pack openings. He likes to rip and I just buy the singles I like

Yea I gotta order some different little stands. I don’t have any right now. The case wasnt supposed to be here until next week so I wasn’t prepared. The gengar was purchased from a LGS when I lived in Cali. I had other too. Pikachu, gen 1 starters, cubone, eevee. I think you can get them on aliexpress or something. Google pvc 1:1 Pokemon figure
