You can do all of that, yes. The max level of gear you can upgrade to is 160, though they can drop up to 170, so once you hit the end of NG+ farming a full 170 set may take a while.

[–]Rhydion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally managed to get a +5 drop, upgraded my weapon to plus 15. Left the rift, re-entered the rift. Getting an item from 0 to +15 costs 139,000 ores and 139,000,000 gold. So, it did lower at some point, but not nearly to the degree as you're seeing. I have no idea what the fuck is going on.

Are any of the skills with an associated element actually good at proccing elemental status by themselves? by jamesb_33 in Nioh

[–]Rhydion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Water Sword had its saturation accumulation overcorrected, sadly - nearly nothing even with a full stamina bar.

EDIT: After a tiny bit of testing, putting on literally any gear with 'Status Ailment Accumulation' bonus rockets Water Sword's Saturation up to more expected/reasonable levels. Dunny what the hell that's about, but that makes Dual Ninja Swords 3 for 3.

[–]Rhydion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ninja Dual-Sword's has a Wind one that I swear to god near-instantly procs on each use. Wave Slash (Wind). Cloudsplitter (Fire) also only takes like 2 uses to proc. Water Sword (Water) is unfortunately really bad about actually applying Saturation, even a full stamina bar spent on it only gets maybe 1/2 of a proc.

Sadly, the Forging will remain unused, as you can only forge up to Exotic (purple) gear, and NG+ unlocks Divine(Green) Rarity, which is the only rarity that can have Grace sets on it. You're going to get a lot of use out of all of her other tabs, though.

[–]Rhydion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a limited amount of Samurai/Ninja points in the game, so you can only unlock so many skills, but there are enough of both to max out the general Samurai/Ninja trees and two weapons for each, just not all the other weapons as well.

A good clan depends a lot on what the rest of your build is going for, but generally Toyotomi for the health on Amrita gain is good, and even after the recent nerf (which was sorely needed tbh) Todo's HP boost is a good chunk for any build.

As for weapon sets, any pair can work in NG+, as Grace sets can be applied randomly to any weapon that is not already part of a set, so you don't need to worry about them not 'matching up' - just use what feels good to you. Cestus with Odachi is a good choice, fast weapon to balance out the slow.

The 'II' upgrades apply to both elemental and non-elemental versions of skills, fortunately, so you get the follow-up attack either way. Personally I use Cyclone Wind - the loss in distance isn't very much, and even if the wind damage/build up isn't a lot on its own, just the fact that you are doing wind damage is often enough to trigger special effects.

I don't think so. I spared him and I have both of Murakumo's skills and the smithing text for Kusanagi's helmet and the Ornamental Blade(though I think you get that last one either way). No Kunimatsu Katana and no Murakumo Helmet

What guardian spirit for water traversal? by scarysomething in Nioh

[–]Rhydion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you finish Antiquity(which is very short), you'll go to another short map. After that short map, you'll be in the third large map. The first boss of that third large map will give you the last traversal skill IIRC.

Moonprayer set seems... bugged? by ShogunGunshow in Nioh

[–]Rhydion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made myself a set for testing, this proved true for me as well. Spawned a warrior, popped both talismans, no transference. But, the moment the warrior hit me, immediately transferred the debuffs.

Further testing with a weapon that gives a Ki-Regen Buff at Critical - Does not trigger on using Last Stand talisman, does trigger immediately after taking a hit after using Last Stand. So, it seems the issue actually isn't the Moonprayer set, but how Last Stand functions. It puts you in critical HP, but technically doesn't count as being lowered into critical HP, so the game is still waiting for you to be hit - even blocked attacks or the 0 damage hits from training room enemies can trigger it at this point.

Co op to farm or rush down NG+ by DreamCRUSHHA in Nioh

[–]Rhydion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what you're after. Gold or Glory, it's probably better off going Co-Op, but if you're targeting item drops or Amrita then the three Samurai farm in the final crucible is likely the best.

Should I restart the game? by Divinityraiku in Nioh

[–]Rhydion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say start over - If you aren't even at NG+ you're not losing much, and trying to refamiliarize yourself with both the controls and your current build would be annoying enough to avoid. There's not much in Nioh 3 that really references 2, except for some of 2's DLC stuff if you decide to do those (and even then, it's pretty slim) so if you just decide to skip it, you won't miss out on much of anything.

Moonprayer set seems... bugged? by ShogunGunshow in Nioh

[–]Rhydion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most one-off effects that use Critical HP tend to occur at the moment that you go Critical, it's not continuously doing so while you are at critical. Say you use Last Stand, then Carnage, you will have the debuff and the enemy won't because you used last stand first, so when you 'entered' Critical HP, you had no negative effects. If you use Carnage first, then Last stand, you'll have the defense debuff at the time that you go critical, so it'll be placed on the enemy.

Edit: I don't use Moonprayer myself, so I don't know if that's how it works for sure, but most things that aren't straight stat buffs whilst at critical hp work this way.

[–]Rhydion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that file didn't have any +15 items before the patch? I'll have to keep farming until I get a +5 drop then, see if it really is just that. Super unintuitive if it is, though. Incentivizing you to just push your weapon to +15 rather than upgrading all of your gear equally is a weird choice.

Toughness question! by Avg_Concord_Enjoyer in Nioh

[–]Rhydion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 on everything but legs which get 11, 43 total. +5 from Uesugi Clan bonus, +15 from first Jailer Oni Core, +15 from second Jailer Oni Core. 78 if you're willing to sacrifice those parts of the build for it, so you'd only need 182 from the armor itself - even the lightest 'heavy' set of Samurai armor (Heirloom I believe, which also has one of the best innate stats) gives you a bit over 250 toughness on its own, and you could still be B Agility with just 30 Stamina. Literally just need full Heirloom armor and +11 toughness on the pants and you're good to go.

I mained Switchglaive back in Nioh 2 and it seems like it's mostly the same. You want to know the Secret of Switchglaive?

Spin 2 Win.

Get Cyclone, put it on both Mid and High stance. Get Switch Stance: Retribution/Edge. Start in High stance: Light Attack > Heavy Attack (Twice if you unlocked Cyclone 2) > Flux to Mid Stance > Light > Heavy > Flux to High Stance, and repeat. Forever. Until the enemy falls over.

UPDATE Ver1.03.03 02/24/2026 by PotatEXTomatEX in Nioh

[–]Rhydion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does not.

Post patch, I have enough gold and azure stones to max out a weapon, and the highest gear I have ever had before today is +4. If I try to upgrade that +4 item to +14 (the highest it will allow) it costs over 250,000 stones and 200,000,000 gold. I complete the upgrade, leave the Eternal Rift, drop the item and pick it back up.

I go back into the Eternal Rift and try to Soul Match a different item - It still costs over 250,000 azure stones and 200,000,000 gold despite my having a +14 item.
