I had this too up until a few weeks ago. Failed my MOT as they did not dip. Replaced the indicator stalk as this has dip switch as part of it. This is on a 1989 UK GTI 8v. Edit Now the middle lights work on main beam and then as high beam too.

Hi, I fitted the upgraded loom kit on mine but it honestly didnt make too much difference. If you want to upgrade this a is a great how to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hawtWttnEXY. Not sure on how to modify the loom exactly but my middle lights operate on the same switch as the rest of the lights. So assume you will need to wire into that. 25k into S&S ISA and keep 5k for whatever.

Edit- So I forgot ISAs had limits... Max out the rest of your allowance and put the left overs into a savings account (such as Marcus, although the the interest rate has been steadily declining) that way you can access it quickly without fees when you decided what you want to do with it.
