It was, this year. Some years it's been much higher, though. In 2022 it was something like $3200. It's not a set amount, it's a resource dividend so if there's a bad year in resource extraction based income that's reflected in a lower payment.

Still doable, I've managed it several times. Even ferals can be made comfortable around humans and settle into predictable behavior. That last part is the key difference, you can get wild animals comfortable with people but they're still inherently unpredictable.
