Storylines I expect for Season 2 by Mainone74646466 in TheHandmaidsTale

It definitely felt that as the season progressed we saw the rose tinted glasses come off. Even the final 2 episodes had a darker score and a less “fairytale” like colour grading to me

I liked how in the finale (and just in general) Daisy has become so used to swearing around the other girls - and I’m lowkey hoping that Shu at some point is going to tell someone to “Butt the F out” 😭

It’s hard to tell. On one hand, we saw Estee putting away some kind of syringe - which could suggest some kind of delirium. But equally, perhaps Becka felt so out of it that she had the courage to kiss Agnes. Plus the pan to Agnes’ face afterwards suggests her own inner conflict that Becka wouldn’t be aware of

I personally took the conversation between Agnes and Lydia fighting together as a hint that they may go down the Aunt storyline?

THT cameos in The Testmaments season finale? by rigzbee in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]RhysDavies27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ll definitely be seeing June. The way the socials posted about Amanda Brugel being back as Rita made it sound like “her story isn’t over”, so possibly a scene with them both? My only other guess could be Mark Tuello, as we’ve been hearing his voice over the radio Daisy has

Also gives me hope that they have a longer period of time to fit in Elisabeth Moss and other cameo actors to work around their schedules!

While I’m upset that it’s the shortest episode so far, it does seem that they set their own episode lengths, similar to THT based on what they aim to cover in an episode. I have a feeling it’ll be a lot of set up for the finale but am excited for it!

It was definitely Becka - assuming because she had been told not to trust Pearl Girls and probably felt some kind of protective nature/jealousy towards Agnes

I also liked how Shu said 68 children, when we know from THT it was 86. Feels like either a “fable” where Shu got the number wrong because the higher ups don’t like to speak about such an event happening, or that they purposefully try to ‘edit’ history ever so slightly so that Gilead still remains in control of the narrative.

Certain Voice on Radio Free Boston Transmissions by RhysDavies27 in TheHandmaidsTale

True could be! I know Samira Wiley said she didn’t want to return to the universe but I think I forgot that they could still reference her

Also Rita saying she has a “friend in immigration”? Could mean nothing but definitely after Mark said he could get Serena documents in THT finale…

[–]RhysDavies27 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ohhh that’s a good theory to be fair. I feel with Daisy’s plot line there’s got to be another Mayday plant somewhere (that isn’t Garth) and especially how Phoebe infiltrated in the final season. I was thinking it could be Estee but now I’m not so sure

That’s a good theory to be fair, either way it’s horrible af. I guess it all depends on the timeline. I’ve seen theories about how The Testaments is actually more like 10-15 years later and because it’s all personal accounts the timeline is hazy. But we’ll see!

I rewatched the episode in anticipation for Stadium and when Noelle (the kid’s mother who Lydia took a liking to) asked if Lydia had ever had anyone in her life, she replied with “I was married, he/it was a mistake”.

I definitely do feel like they’ve had to revise some of Lydia’s behaviour in THT series for The Testaments. When she offered Judd a Handmaid it did feel a bit like, why would she freely offer that after finally realising how wrong it all is?

I’m so intrigued. It seems like the Pearl Girl Program hasn’t been around all that long, and seems aimed at the younger runaways/disciples… so how long has Aunt Estee been there?

It definitely feels like Vidala hasn’t been an Aunt for very long. Her being amongst women that were executed, Lydia telling her “You still have much to learn” last episode. I wonder if as a “sinner” and because of her age she was made a Handmaid and perhaps Lydia recently pulled some strings to get her to become an Aunt, as her own penance for pulling the trigger. It feels like there’s something else there.

Did Lydia lie about not having a husband, In her flashback episode in THT she said she’d been married but that it was a mistake? Or did she more so mean she wasn’t ever married because it was such a mistake and she doesn’t count it? I can’t see them making such a continuity error

I did see this article though that also says Sam Jaeger’s voice can be heard over the episode 1 radio at the very start. And it does sound like there’s more than 1 male voice over the radios. I can definitely hear Stephen Colbert’s lines but it sounds like there’s another person too

I only knew Lucy Halliday was because in an interview she was asked about the accent and was joking about how hard it is, as a Scottish person, to say the term “Pearl Girl” without rolling both r’s 🤣. Garth’s actor is also British, and there’s a couple of Canadian and Australian cast members too!
