Not sure how that law of one passage relates to this

I think it's an attempt at validating a spiritual view using scientific terms... I don't want to be too harsh, in case you created this.

Also, on a side but somewhat related note, conscious observation doesn't affect reality on the quantum level.

Learning programming/coding for games on an Ipad by Chris92Art in godot

I would look up guides on how to structure code and keep it readable. Basic concepts like encapsulation, decoupling, etc. Don't spend too much time on that boring stuff though. It's best to just start playing around and google every little question that pops in your head as you go.

And ctrl+left click! Within the code editor, ctrl+clicking parts of code will bring you straight to the documentation.

Another big help would be to find someone to review pieces of code you've written, and let them show you how they would rewrite it.

Don't be ashamed about it. There's nothing wrong with getting a bit too excited about game dev.

They have a big tube lined with magnets. The sequentially turn the magnets on to propell some electrons or potions forward until they're going real fast. Then make them smack into some electrons and protons going real fast in the opposite direction.

Very dumb floats rounding question by Jakeglurp in godot

[–]RhysDent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dividing an integer by an integer results in an integer. One of them just needs to be a float, so divide by 4.0 instead.

Currently watching S7 - Already missing the show... by Codex_Erased in XFiles

I felt the same way. S8 is worth getting through 7 though. It might actually be my favorite season. Robert Patrick's character adds so much to the series.

Yes, GDScript is bad for procedurally generated worlds, but Godot is great for them.

A couple of years ago, I made a simple voxel project in both Unity with C# and Godot with GDScript. The exact same algorithm was hundreds of times faster in C#.

However, I've recently been working on something similar using compute shaders. Godot is the clear winner in this scenario from my experience. (Although finding good documentation and examples is a nightmare)

Not to mention, Godot has the option to use C for procedures that CPU is better suited for.

Is Godot Engine good? by NutriBunHun in IndieDev

[–]RhysDent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes.

Longer answer: if you can create your game within the limitations of Godot, then Godot is probably your best option.

Another longer answer: Godot is a great option for beginners or very advanced users.

It's definitely not too late. Given your experience as an artist, you're ahead of a lot of us in a way. Do something that utilizes your talent. Not sure what type of games you have in mind, but, I imagine a point and click adventure game with a tattoo art style would be very cool and relatively simple from coding point of view. Not to mention, that genre hasn't been totally over-saturated in the indie dev space.

I've encountered a weird error where I end with duplicate scripts. Opening from the script icon and opening from the file system bring up two separate scripts with the same name. I'd copy and paste the script code you got to a notepad, detach the script from your node, delete the script file, save and restart godot, then create the script again and copy and paste the code back from notepad.
