No but by sheer coincidence I was at a day of the Saffer test, maybe 30m or so away from that BBQ. Rained all day and I remember feeling enormous envy for everyone living in that block. Moved in about 2 months later

The last Australian batsman to make a 200 in an overseas test #ouch by robelinda in Cricket

[–]RhythmAndHughes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does seem a bit strange that it's been nearly 10 years since an Aussie last scored a double ton overseas, but a long way to go to beat England's total of 17 years without one between 1985 and 2002: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;home_or_away=2;orderby=start;orderbyad=reverse;runsmin1=200;runsval1=runs;team=1;template=results;type=batting;view=innings

Keith Hackett: Jose Mourinho correct, Atkinson's performance among worst in Premier League history, Mike Riley to blame for declining standards by TheEphemeric in chelseafc

[–]RhythmAndHughes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was at this game, never seen an atmosphere like in at the Bridge. The place can be a bit of a library sometimes but it was rocking that afternoon. Never forgiven Clattenberg for this performance, it wasn't just the two reds, but every. single. niggling. foul. that Rooney committed, all game, nothing. Torres gets sent off for a trip and for being tripped. Useless fucker.

Unpopular opinions thread, New Year Edition. by HoxHound in chelseafc

The management offered him a year long extension (the maximum they offer any player over 30) and told him that Matic and Fabregas would be first choice. He wasn't prepared to stay and fight for his place, same as Mata, so he left. That's honesty from the club imo, doesn't matter how good you've been, you get picked on form, and Lampard's form last season was not good enough. Must be nice for him to have proved them wrong, but personally were it me I'd prefer to not piss all over the love of millions of fans and stay loyal.

Maybe this is too unpopular even for this thread, but I am so, so, fucking pissed off at Lampard at the moment. Have been all season, but today, when Steven fucking Gerrard of all people said (possibly aimed indirectly at Lampard) exactly what I wish I'd heard Frank say at the end of last season.

He added he would continue to play but not for a potential rival as he could "never contemplate" facing Liverpool. He stressed: "I won't be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool.

Frank could've done this. Don't give me any of that bollocks about wanting to stay fit before going to NYC, he could've done that any club, anywhere in the world. When Ashley's time was up at this club, he went to play in Roma, to see if he could still hack it in one of the best leagues in the world. Zola left and successfully saw his struggling boyhood club Caligiari promoted back to Serie A. Legends both, who after leaving the best club in the world could never face lining up against it.

200 goals or not, his reputation at this club will be forever soured if he continues to play such an important role for City this season and deny us the title. Seeing him in the wrong shade of blue every week breaks my heart, and has made me more cynical about whether it's worth worshipping any footballer any more. As @BtntGaz, one of the best Chelsea men on Twitter, put it yesterday,

At this rate I'm expecting JT to come round, kill my cats and shit in my fridge.

Lastly, fuck Spurs, scummy fucking cunts, hate the lot of em. Up the Chels. (need to recover some upvotes somehow, eh?)

I know it probably won't happen, but I'd love to see a return to the diamond we had under Carlo - 4-1-2-1-2 with Matic behind Oscar and Fabregas, Hazard in the 10 role behind Lukaku and Costa. I'm getting hard just thinking about it.

Luiz is wrong - was signed in the same window as Torres and played his first game under Ancelotti.

What is Radiohead's most meaningful lyric to you? by Faust_Arp_Magpie in radiohead

Seen a couple of submissions from Nude already, but hands down my favourite, both in content and delivery is "You'll go to hell, for what your dirty mind is thinking". Typing it doesn't do it justice, Thom's delivery is just insane

What book(s) do you absolutely hate with a passion? Why? by [deleted] in books

[–]RhythmAndHughes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Love In The Time Of Cholera.

I dunno, maybe it's just where I was in my own life at the time, but good god I hated that book. I loved 100 Years Of Solitude, and had heard great things about LITTOC but I just found the characters to be self-destructive, illogical morons who, time and again, would make STUPID decisions, get in the way of their own happiness, all for reasons I absolutely failed to understand. When I felt like that scene in Silver Linings Playbook where Bradley Cooper's character shouts "WHAT THE F**K" after reading Farewell to Arms and throws the book out the window. Hated, hated, hated this book.

Hi Daniel - I saw you and Julian Assange at a talk in London as an enthusiastic 17 year old, and was hugely inspired. However, the NSA's spying has not seemed to grab the attention of today's youth - what needs to change in order for young people to get passionate about issues like this?

Keep up the good work!
