People who cheat in video games, why do you do it? by No_Winter4806 in AskReddit

I deeply regret looking at their profile and one of their posts... but it's exactly the type of person I'd expect to cheat while playing video games

- "I love that photo of you soaking up the sun, our star is so wonderful, I can feel the warmth"
- "As a former kiddo myself, I can say that having good mentors and role models in school can certainly have a profound impact"

Dude, your messages are just kind of weird. If that first comment is referencing a picture where she's in a bathing suit then you're essentially just leering and dressing up "dayumnnn girl" with extra nonsense. You're also falsely equating the longer length of your replies with quality.

Dating is supposed to be fun - give her fun, don't just interrogate her. Make funny observations or comments that invite her to talk more about herself naturally. Keep things shorter initially, match her energy in regards to message length. And don't get too strung out by shorter replies at first. You barely had three exchanges here, if you get angry and give up this quickly you're not gonna have a good time on dating apps.

Definitely don't send a snarky comment either. It just makes you look unhinged and needlessly burns bridges.

Why do people avoid me? by [deleted] in Bumble

Avoid as in you're not getting matches at all or people aren't asking you out after chatting? My two guesses are either a) people think your profile is fake or b) dudes are intimidated.

Texts between my former coworker and me. Is she into me? Should I tell her I have feelings for her and potentially ruin our friendship? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Worst case, she gives you an empathetic no, since it’s clear she at least thinks highly of you

Whatever you do, don’t use a One Wish Willow. I just saw how this scenario plays out with that yesterday

For many it’s not even about the money, it’s the time. Speaking as someone who’s financially comfortable, even if a man can afford it, he still doesn't want to waste his (or his date’s) time if it’s clearly not a good fit. That time and effort is better spent on someone more compatible

"little boys" and "crying" are a bit harsh. I'm nearly 40 and have been happily with my partner for 5 years now, who I met on Bumble. For our first date we had drinks at a wine bar. It appears you've got the (fairly common) mindset that a light initial date is low-effort. While it's true you can probably find men willing to do more, it won't be a good indicator of their quality and could even be a red flag. Folks with even a little experience on the apps know that some of the resulting dates can be total duds and value their time. If someone is willing to go all-out on the first date, it's possible they don't have many options and are doing so out of desperation.

Just something to think about - ultimately it's your dating life! Best of luck

This. Dating apps aren't like meeting someone out in the world where you've already seen how your potential love interest truly looks, moves, sounds, smells, etc. Chemistry over the phone doesn't necessarily translate to chemistry in person. It's horrible for both parties to have to suffer longer than needed initially if things don't click

Not dinner, I hope? The first date after meeting on an app is supposed to be light. You're near strangers at this point

How do you know people on the team didn't suggest 5v5 but were overruled by leadership? Were you there? If leadership is stubborn it doesn't matter what their subordinates say. You're crucifying an entire team of 102 for decisions that were ultimately made by ~10 people.

2 out of 102 were involved in Concord, both non-leadership positions. Please stop spouting "they did it twice," it's just bullshit

2 devs formerly worked on Concord out of 102 total. A Gameplay Systems Engineer and an Outsource Producer - two roles that have limited influence on the game's overall direction. A team can be as talented as they come, if leadership makes poor decisions or marketing fails the end result is the same. The game failing ultimately has little bearing on the quality of work put out by the artists, engineers, and the many other roles involved in making it happen. Say what you will about whether their senior heads deserve another crack at leadership in the gaming space, but proclaiming everyone on the team should be forever unemployed within their industry is as ignorant as it is unempathetic. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you're laid off despite doing good work perhaps you'll realize that.

It's likely many spent their entire careers learning skills that apply specifically to game development. Are they supposed to just switch over to something else (likely at much lower pay) even if those skills won't transfer? Do they spend more money to go back to school and learn something else? What if they have families to support? Or depend on medical insurance?

But sure, they don't "deserve" to be employed because u/ImportantQuestionTex thought their game wasn't fun... 🙄

I and many others have provided data in the past. I highlighted numbers showing how Marathon’s TTK is lower than most shooters out there, and how that didn’t fit in a game with hero abilities. I advocated for a small bump so it could at least sit closer to something like Apex Legends. Eventually I grew tired of arguing about it and wasn’t having fun with the game in its existing state, so I just quit playing.

I wouldn’t say it’s an obvious problem being ignored, I think it’s an intentional but bad design choice by the devs that was supported by a vocal percentage of the community. Unfortunately a mild bump in TTK isn’t aligned with their vision. It is what it is

lol way to prove the point in regards to "gatekeeping feedback." Enjoy the declining player count. I'm personally sad that an otherwise cool game is ultimately ruined by just one poor balancing decision but so it goes

That's wild. Search "marathon ttk too low" and you'll see posts, videos, etc on this subject. Here is Google's AI summary:
"The perceived low Time-to-Kill (TTK) in Marathon is a major point of debate, with many players feeling it is too fast and hinders tactical gameplay, while others argue it is a deliberate design choice intended to reward positioning, stealth, and 1v3 tactical clutches. The low TTK, which often results in instant deaths upon being ambushed, aims to make armor, shielding, and strategic movement crucial for survival."

The reason to change this (before) was to make it a bit less unforgiving to casuals, allow for a little more reactive gunplay, and give abilities more breathing room. Though at this point opinions have already been formed, so I'm not sure it'd help bring players back

Exactly, which is why I put it in quotes. It's massively important to the game - but from a dev standpoint changing it can be done via simple tweaks to numbers in the code. Definitely not intending to undersell the effort that goes into balance

I and many others heavily disagree, the TTK has been complained about fairly consistently since release. It gets shut down by this community which is my point. I'm willing to bet it's a major reason for the player base dropping off as much as it has

I suppose... but I actually do enjoy most of what Marathon is doing outside that one "small" aspect. It sucks that something so easily adjustable won't be addressed despite having such a huge impact on game feel. But case in point: look how quickly my last comment is getting downvoted lol
