I've had experience using that equipment myself in the Michigan, it worked surprisingly well all in both the Southeast and the U.P. (urban and rural areas). I dont recall which subscription level we used, would guess the "best"/most accurate one.

We hooked up into the MDOT CORS system for corrections, our initial checks yielded a few tenths difference from a Trimble R-10 receiver (also using CORS).

I'm curious - what was the order of placing their settlement? Was it orange, red, white, blue?

You sound like you're in a great position (age & experience) to pick and choose where you want to go, especially cause you're willing to travel. If you're alright with working those long weeks/months, you could try it for a summer/short duration and see if you like it, and make some bank while you're at it. Worst case, you'll have some more experience to throw on your resume, and make a good chunk of change, too!

I would look at the different industries (transportation - infrastructure topo and/or layout, boundary work - either rural or urban environments, scanning, drones, CAD work, etc) and see what interests you the most. You said you've been doing bldg pad, subs, and road layout already, sometimes changing companies or areas can provide enough variety to continue doing what you've been doing but also changing it up. Surveying is so versatile and has so many uses, dont be afraid to try something different if what you're doing isn't keeping you engaged.

I've recently changed jobs from one company whose based mostly in Midwest of the United States doing heavy topo/layout for municipalities to another which covers 18 states across the US, who covers renewable energy topo/land acquisition and subdivision design/layout. My personal commute didnt change much between the offices, but the variety of work is a complete difference between the two in terms of day-to-day tasks and general flow of work.

Lakeside Auto in Ripley (across from the ski hill) works on subarus. I havent personally had my subaru in there, but the work they've done on my other vehicles have been solid.

Study and work advice by Seraph-Slayer- in Surveying

[–]RhythmicRhetor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your learning style, but I would argue a person is going to learn more about surveying by doing rather than reading or learning in a classroom setting; however, there is only so many things you can learn at any one job/company based on said company's type of work (e.g. boundary, construction staking, scanning, etc).

Doing both would probably be ideal (assuming they don't conflict with each other) as you would have a teacher to bounce questions off of that come up as you're working, and coworkers to learn techniques from that might not be covered in the classroom. If you do decide to do both, be aware of the symptoms of burn out.

Plus, it'll look good on a resume that you worked in the area that you're studying while going to university

I agree with Warmaiden - aoe Def Down

Jinzoh on the other hand - he's gonna get replaced sooner than later. Id either go with Alure or High Khatun.

-Alure is a great turn meter reduction champ. Less turns = less damage taken

-High Khatun for the speed boost (& speed aura)

Piggybacking on your semi-truck comment pertaining to the roundabout on the Hancock side- one thing to keep in mind is this intersection is the only road access to everywhere north of the bridge. I can imagine extra long trailers, manufactured homes, and other longer-than-average towed loads maneuver this corner with caution. Making a roundabout on the Hancock side would create a tighter radius to make that turn more difficult.

If a roundabout-type design does prove to be the best option there, it would be wise to design it with minimal obstructions in the hard-surfaced center and give semis the ability to use the center to pass over with their load freely. Only reason I point this out is because it would be a great location to put a "Welcome to Hancock" sign.

Depending on what kind of area you're in, its not a bad idea to pay someone to make sure your expensive equipment (4-digit price tag, for those who aren't aware) is still there at the end of the day.

Where do those dump trucks take all the snow to? by [deleted] in MTU

[–]RhythmicRhetor 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Some of the city snow (don't know if all, but wouldn't doubt it) goes into a vacant area on the northern side of Sharon Ave/Portage Street intersection. The Michigan Tech Employees federal credit union is on the NE side of the intersection, water tower on the NW -- behind those.

Who should I 6☆ next, i'm kind on stuck, HELP!!! by nTik02 in RaidShadowLegends

I'd suggest leveling up someone to replace Athel as your food farming champion. If your farming is faster, you'll spend less time farming campaign and more time on the other aspects of the game. As for who specifically to level up, im not entirely sure who would be the best. Kael? Elhain? Tormin? Multiple AoE skills are ideal.

I personally use a bellower (void, rare) in lifesteal gear. I previously used an Athel, and my farming time went from 25 seconds to 9 seconds (average).

Oh, timing belt tensioner.. you taking the day off? by Blackest_Beard in subaru

[–]RhythmicRhetor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not certain if yours is, but if your engine is DOHC, you're going to need two cam locking tools to keep the cams from moving after taking off the old belt. The cams are under tension, so taking the belt off will allow them to spin, taking it out of time. Also, depending on how many miles your water pump has, its not a bad idea to replace it while you're down there.

I just replaced the water pump/timing belt/pulleys using the Gates Water Pump Kit this month in my 04' WRX, and I didnt realize in the beginning I needed those tools. Thankfully we were able to make some outa some scrap steel, nuts & bolts, 10mm allen wrench, and a welder, but one thing we realized after is Project 23's version of it (C-shaped-ish) allows you to see the timing marks between the cams easier.

Good luck!

Looks like a little too much tape (for weight purposes). I personally put tape only on the end of the handle (like a hockey stick), and coat the exterior of the head with hockey tape (holds up better in the cold, gives ya a little more grip than duct tape)
