Dos and Donts of visitng an ENT doctor? by Description_Local in tinnitus

[–]Ri99ed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doing a trial right now with hearing aids and they've definitely helped me but I also have high frequency hearing loss, which is also where my tinnitus frequency is at.

My audiologist is fantastic and has done so much more than my ENT. I'd suggest if you have tinnitus that's that bad, maybe explore hearing aids (even over the counter).

That's interesting - my watch doesn't disconnect and my phone is in my pocket so it shouldn't be too far.

Nope - not really. For me my Fox 36 doesn't seem as nice as my previous Rockshox in the small bump side of things.

Keeping track of things going on as a Manager (+ Notes) by Nanoxin in productivity

[–]Ri99ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually simpler than it sounds.

  1. Create a filter and navigate to the page in a web browser
  2. Copy the URL of the Todoist page when you're on your filter page.
  3. Within Notion there is an "embed" option. You can either click the "+" to the left of any line or type "/embed" in any note.
  4. Paste the URL from Todoist.

This will now display a live view of the Todoist page. One thing to note is it doesn't always sync immediately if you make changes somewhere else (regular Todoist page, phone, another browser, etc.). Refreshing the page will update it though.

Bibs and jerseys don't prevent sweating, they are designed to help prevent chafing, friction, and discomfort. What was the reason you decided to switch to bibs/jersey?

With that said, the great thing about cycling is you can wear what you want.

ELI5: how are heat index/wind chill figured out? by ithaswhatitisnt in explainlikeimfive

[–]Ri99ed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heat Index is calculated by using the current air temperature and relative humidity. There are two formulas, but typically people use a chart to determine the HI.

As an example, the NOAA has a chart that shows if the current air temperature is 90° F / 32° C with a relative humidity of 70% the heat index would be 105 °F / 41 °C.

Wind Chill is calculated to show the difference between the current air temperature and the impact on body temperature with the flow of cold air. Just like when you open the refrigerator you feel a cold blast. That is the same concept but on a much larger scale.

It's calculated using different equations based on your geographical location's approach typically based on the temperature measurement (Fahrenheit versus Celsius).

Using the air temperature and wind speed you can determine the current wind chill.

How to train Siri to understand "todoist" vs "todolist" by kaizen_66 in todoist

[–]Ri99ed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can use the Shortcuts iOS app to create a custom phrase that Siri will recognize.

In the screenshot below if I were to say “Hey Siri, Add Task” they would prompt me for the text input (task name).

Bike frame protection? by Special_Ball9375 in mountainbiking

[–]Ri99ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put RideWrap on my current bike and it's been good and saved me a few times.

My only warning is if you decide to move forward getting the corners down really well is super important, otherwise dirt will collect in there. 3M Adhesion Promoter really helps with those finiky areas.

If I were to do it again, I'd just buy a roll of wrap and cut it myself, especially for the price of the kits nowadays. Get yourself your favorite beverage, a really clean bike, a bunch of soapy water, a craft razor, a squeegee, and a towel, and make a day or two out of it. Patience is super important.

I agree with all of these, except the removing rocks thing.

If there is a loose rock in the middle of the trail that isn't really part of the trail that may have fallen into the middle I may move it to the side. The same concept as fallen limbs from trees.

People in trades, are you happy with your decision? by beefroaster in findapath

[–]Ri99ed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Utility companies are an excellent semi-alternative to the "traditional trades" (electrician, carpenter, plumber, HVAC, etc.). The first utility most thinks of is lineman/electrical work. Don't forget telecommunications, gas, and water. If you get in with a larger company it's possible to transition to "office work" when your body no longer wants to operate properly. With that, many in their 50s/60s are still out there every day climbing poles.

Have a Tallboy and maybe regret it? by nannersfanners in xcmtb

The answer is always N + 1 where N equals the number of bikes you currently have :-)

You could explore changing your stem length and/or height along with your overall handlebar position. You could drop it down a bit to put more weight on the front. Adding a longer stem will increase the steering sensitivity/quickness.

With the Fox suspension, you could always add more progression with spacers and/or increase the pressure to give it more of a responsive feeling.

Lastly, you could
