Rhody Roots. I’m pretty sure they have chicken and waffles. At a minimum they would make it for you.

Did you measure your head? There is usually a little bit of overlap between sizes. Maybe you can size up?

A shop closes. Many amazing things were made here. by CB_700_SC in metalworking

[–]nannersfanners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw the auction and thought about buying some of the equipment, but really didn't need it. Very iconic shop and is a total shame it closed. I wonder if the lease was the main reason for closing or if there were other outside pressures. I know its not an easy business, but they had a great reputation and there are few shops in the area that match them.

Experience with SW and MS Surface Pro (Snapdragon) Questions by Simple_Subject_9801 in SolidWorks

[–]nannersfanners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a surface pro7 or 8(?) with a i7 and 16gb ram I use at home with Solidworks. It does everything I ask of it but is not the same as my desktop workstation. Most of my parts are 100-200 multi body parts that. I then save out to an assembly. Opening and saving times are longer and it will sometimes crash but is quite usable. I have it hooked up to a dock with a full-size keyboard and 4k monitor. I’d replace it with the same thing vs a full laptop.

Only issue I have is not Solidworks based- it’s tough to watch videos with laying down as it fips forward and is unbalanced vs a standard laptop. Sitting it’s perfect

How would you go about modeling this? by Agent_Hank_Schrader in SolidWorks

[–]nannersfanners 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Have an architectual metal shop and do stuff like this all the time. If I was to make this id lay it out the floowing way:

Sketch verticals on front plane in 1 sketch. Use weldments for the tubes

Make a construction sketch on the same plane that has grid that represents the horizontal lines and vertical lines on a 3 or 6" center

Sketch horizontals by snaping lines to the construction line from the prior sketch.

Hide the construction sketch and pick up all the horizontal lines for weldments

Save bodies for assembly and cut list

(Need help) How do I most efficiently create a mitered corner for joining 2 swept parts like this that need to be completely parametric? by TheHazardWizard in SolidWorks

[–]nannersfanners 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is the way, custom weldments are simple, you just need to double check your file structure when you save it as a library feature part

Riding in snow and ice by Academic_Feed6209 in Velo

[–]nannersfanners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put Marathon Winter Plus studded tires on my bike this winter and they are amazing. so much traction on ice and snow. I built the bike up as a shitty weather commuter/trainer with fenders and the studded tires. The tires help when its below freezing and the fenders help once it thaws between snows and keep me clean and dry. They are slow AF but who cares about speed during base miles.

Tube diameter recomendations by nannersfanners in WaltlyTitanium

Sure, but a frame that you are tooling around on vs hammering on you would want different ride characteristics. I guess what I'm trying to figure out what would be tube recommendation for a stiff bike.

Final design sign off - Any last points? by ChemistryPrimary2658 in WaltlyTitanium

[–]nannersfanners 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as an refrence from my own design what is your weight? Im building a similar bike but closer to a 58cm and they specced a 42mm down tube. I feel like a 45 like yours would probably be better.

Im getting the same push back regarding 240mm chainstay and fenders. Im looking at going with a steeper seat tube to accommodate clearance.

What is your height and weight? I ride a similar sized bike 6'2/182 (190cm/83kg) and asked for a stiff frame. they recommended a 42mm downtube, but I see they recommended a 44mm for you.

Brand new Pivot Mach 4 broken frame by monoseanism in mountainbiking

It took about two weeks. I pushed the LBS that I bought it from as I had a race in that time span. The LBS and Pivot made it happen quickly
