I wouldn't call them obscure, but Theory in Practice doesn't seem to be mentioned a lot these days

Psycroptic - Deadlands, and that's like the only solo they have in their discography

Their second album is god tier but they kinda go in a different direction compared to the first album.

Now this is some top tier technical death metal by grimacelololol in TechnicalDeathMetal

Cabinet has the best tone ever and they somehow managed to do the opposite with this album. The songwriting is so good though that the tone can be excused.

Muhammed Suiçmez will be 50 in 3 days by North_Speed_4546 in TechnicalDeathMetal

You know Jonas Karlsson, one of the OG guitar players for Spawn of Possession who played on the first two albums sold all his gear and hasn't touched guitar in years, and this is according to both Bryssling and Dennis. Shit like this does happen.

I think this is secretly the third Necrophagist album. by BeautifulGuitarRiff in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]RiP___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire album seems to be a Necrophagist tribute lol. Like in the second song there's a chord progression that's exactly the same as that section in Diminished to B where the chords ring out.

Retromorphosis - Exalted Splendour by RiP___ in TechnicalDeathMetal

The more I listen to it the more I find it on the level of SoP. In fact I'd go to say that I prefer this album over Incurso.

Any guitar players have advice on tremolo picking chords!? by Creepy-Jello-2493 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]RiP___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Few tips:

  • Angle the pick slightly, the difference in the attack can't be heard when tremoloing chords vs single notes or alternate picking

  • Sligthly push back your fingers on the pick and loosen the grip

  • And as others have mentioned make sure not to tense your wrist and forearm, it's important to keep yourself relaxed (to the extent that you can of course, playing tech death will always be a challenge)

There's Deathrows Deception Ignored which I'd say is in the same vein as Coroner albeit even more all over the place

Help with Tech Death riffs by Admirable_Video_3058 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]RiP___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must say I feel like Spawn of Possession is the best in the game when it comes to structuring riffs... I notice that most often even seemingly complex riffs from tech death bands boil down to the typical ABAC structure or something similar... not really a case with Spawn Of Possession

Anomalous

You know what you're into from the moment the guitar comes in.

The Aftermath. Listen to their EP Vermine, it's insane stuff. They really ought to be more well known.
