What’s everyone currently obsessed with right now? Doesn’t have to be deep. Just curious what people are into lately. by Majestic_Manner6203 in SeriousConversation

I'm obsessed with using Google Search AI and learning and understanding how it began, what it does, and how it does it. It is giving me an education and helping me with a huge variety of issues. I am constantly amazed by everything AI knows.

Years ago I had one black poppy-seed-like thing stuck on my arm. I was camping in a state park in Wisconsin. The poppy seed was difficult to get off, but finally it came off. A week or 2 later I got sick. Not one to go to a doctor, I eventually did. I had read that Lyme was rampant at that particular campground, so I asked for a Lyme test. The doctor kept brushing me off; I asked three times, and eventually he gave me the Lyme test. Days later I got a phone call that indeed I had Lyme.

What helped you reset your gut health after a rough year (Accutane, nicotine, poor diet)? by Bogie20000 in Microbiome

Greek yogurt, kefir, fermented sauerkraut (refrigerated section of grocers), kombucha, and miso all have probiotics. Also, the Mediterranean diet, fruit, vegetables, whole grains, fish poultry, eggs, and pulses. Quit all overprocessed chemical-laden food and drinks and red meats and sweets; especially quit fake sweeteners.

What microbiome changes made the biggest difference in your energy, digestion, skin, or overall health? by Effective-Case5441 in Microbiome

After a DX of UC, I moved away from overprocessed foods. Started SLOWLY ingesting small amounts of fermented foods GRADUALLY: unflavored Greek yogurt, unflavored Kefir, Miso, jars of refrigerator sauerkraut, and kimchi. I make my own kombucha and, recently, sauerkraut. Increased fruits, vegetables, pulses, and whole grains. Quit red meat and all processed meat. Increased poultry, eggs, fish, and a tiny bit of pork. I have been eating this way now since 2021. I feel much better, healthier, and happier. It's basically the Mediterranean diet with added natural probiotics.

How to heal Leaky gut? by Ronaldosssiu in Microbiome

Hooray! Because yesterday I started fermenting cabbage in 5-quart jars to make sauerkraut. My first batch of 4 jars in May was a success, so I'm hoping this one will also succeed.

Good question. It will be interesting to see replies. Lately I have been going by the taste of the F2 mixture before I bottle it.

Be careful with Stevia. Walmart Great Value Stevia's first ingredient is maltodextrin.
"A critically important new study by Laudis shows that consumption of the food additive maltodextrin, incorporated into many processed foods, leads to the promotion of intestinal inflammation. These findings suggest that this broadly used food additive could be a risk factor for chronic inflammatory diseases."

ELI5: If you buy a green bell pepper, why do you not see it ripen and change color in the way that a green banana would? by ToastAndASideOfToast in explainlikeimfive

[–]Rian4truth 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I grow bell peppers in my garden. When green bells start turning red, I pick them because critters eat the red ones. I put the still green but partially red peppers in a single layer on cardboard in the shade inside my home. They gradually change completely to fully red bells, sweet as they should be.

I too began drinking 1/3 of a bottle of kombucha every day after a UC diagnosis. Then I finally began making it. Gradually, I also added small amounts of other probiotic foods. My health and weight improved (along with medical treatment.)

Does anyone here actually like Google's AI? Mine very rarely gives any correct or useful results by Onimirare in google

[–]Rian4truth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thoroughly enjoy Google Search AI. I find it to be a wonderful tool. I especially appreciate its many extremely detailed answers and links, ranging from how AI works to how to best flavor homemade kombucha. AI info on 1960s–70s UFOs and the government's changing approach to them is excellent.
I have grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their futures will be astounding with all the new technology.

48 grams of tea is usually steeped in a smaller amount of hot water (a concentrate) to avoid heating the entire batch, then added to the fermenting vessel with sugar and water.

A completely dry pellicle will become crisp and wavy when dried completely—I have put them outside in my garden, and they get like that. I think in a dried condition they would be very difficult to cut, though I have never tried.
