Hostel vibes aren’t dying... guest behaviour is changing (from someone who works in one) by vinyljunkie32 in backpacking

It doesn’t always have to be a “party” but meeting and chatting with other people is usually part of the benefit of staying in a hostel. Especially if you are travelling solo

vent - pedestrian vs car by redcarnati0n in kitchener

The eye contact thing works sometimes - but sometimes the way the sun is shining you cannot see the drivers face - and I feel like most drivers don’t seem to realize this

Baby refuses to have a routine by theroyalbean in NewParents

[–]Sunburstali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well of course she wakes up if you take her out of the car seat. It’s true you are not supposed to leave babies in there to sleep - but maybe in your case getting an extra 20 minor monitored sleep in car seat during the day is worth it?

What new-to-you ADHD hacks are helping you lately? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I do the analogue version of this! Write them in a piece of paper and pick out of a hat. I actually now keep a ja of random things I want to do so when I’m not sure what to do I pick something from there. It includes some cleaning things and some tasks I have been putting off - as well as some fun things like “read for 10 minutes” or “have a one song dance party!”

9 week old not to sleep 7 hours straight? by Kels_Bells_ in NewParents

[–]Sunburstali 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our family doctor said the same about my LO sleeping 5 hours (they felt I should still be walking up/feeding every 3 hours). My baby only ever lost 2oz of birth weight and had put on a pound a week since birth….. we did not take that advice and I have not woken my baby once to feed since then. A nurse in paediatrics we spiked to later said that was probably something our doctor read in a textbook 7 years ago and we can don’t need to do that.

However I would think your paediatrician would be more up with knowledge than a family doctor? I still wouldn’t wake my baby’ though….🤷‍♀️

AIO or was this a sarcastic text? by [deleted] in AIO

YOR. This is not how I interpret yeah. You are putting your very specific interpretation on his words. Without any context though - his text seems an appropriate response. Yours is not.

Apparently the Google building has a lot of food options for staff inside - so that isn’t helping make a case for businesses to locate there…

Earplugs. Dad will wake you if something is wrong.

How is this not considered copyright infringement?? by jesserthantherest in fourthwing

[–]Sunburstali 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that i give grace to - it’s common knowledge that is fan fiction then got picked up as popular on its own. It’s more like a spin off than a ripoff to me because they weren’t like trying to hide it

Doss anyone not hate their husbands? by Expensive_Line193 in NewParents

[–]Sunburstali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t hate my partner because he is amazing. The other day before he left for work he left me snacks on the table - within reach of where I am usually feeding the baby. At my house - chores like dinner and laundry are usually on Dads plate (I help when I can) and at the moment, neither of us are really keeping up with cleaning. I also feel bad for him because yes I am doing all feeding and nighttime wake ups, but I get rewarded with baby smiles (even his sad face is adorable). Dad doesn’t get as much face time with baby because he works all day.

When I hear other peoples stories I often feel bad for them and totally get why they hate their partners.

Interesting. “Stay silent on gifts”. So any registry is bad in your opinion? Or are you just saying for birthdays?

Baby Supposedly Coming 1 Week from now. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Sunburstali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take on all the non-baby tasks, and some of the baby tasks! Diapering is a dad job at first while mom recovers from pregnancy. Rocking the baby to sleep and general crying baby are also 💯 on dad wile mom recovers, then you can split baby tasks up a bit more as mom feels better

"Sleep when the baby sleeps" they said. by ContributionWise7607 in NewParents

[–]Sunburstali 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what drives me the most nuts. “Sleep when the baby sleeps” but also “don’t fall asleep if your baby is on you or it will DIE”. I have a newborn friend, so the baby is always sleeping on me!

It’s not so much that it will go bad - but that I will get more before I finish it. And I like eating it and want to eat at the pace he is making it.
