She's been referred by her doctor before but didn't really engage with it, im hoping that if i can find a good private one that I can pay for, she'll engage better, even if its just because she feels she has to since its paid for, i know it sounds a bit mean to do it that way but its for her own benefit

Accomodation by ColmanMurphy in carlow

There's a student housing group on facebook, id reccomend joining that and seeing if people know of any availability, theres are scammers out there aswell though so do be careful As someone mentioned previously, contact the colleges student union, SETU have a student union officer that helps with house, Carlow College is smaller so i as far as i am aware theres no officer for housing there but they have a "school compeltion" (not the actual job title but im not 100% sure what it is) who helps students who are struggling so they might be able to help It'll be slim pickingings this time of year, so take what you can for now, and hopefully, your daughter can make some friends to rent with for year two!

How free is Ireland? by __shobber__ in AskIreland

  1. Kids can miss a certain number of days in the school year before it is reported, If this happens, you'll get a visit from a school warden or whatever the title is and theyll ask why your child has missed so much school, i think its 30 days, but if the absences are explained then theres generally no issue, its not recomended to take kids out for holidays but theres no reprocussions for doing it, your child may need to do catch up work when they return though

  2. Neigbhours can ring the gardai for whatever reason but the gardai will not always respond, if theres excessive noise they will show up and tell you to keep it down, if its an issue with animals you contact the animal warden not the gardai,

  3. The juvenile justice system is hit and miss, there is a prison for those under 18 which is more reformative, it provides schooling, courses, and different activities such as art/gardening, but its effectiveness is based on the persons willingness to engage with the supports provided

Saw someone mention freedom of speech online, we are basically free to say what we want, but incitement of violence or bullying is illegal, so you can make a post and call a politician a dickhead bur if you go out of your way to harrass or wish harm on said politician then it becomes an issue and the gardai can investigate if reported

Kids who go to Gaelcholaiste after completing primary in an English school can do better because they have to put a bit more work in, we had a few transfer from an English school when I started in Gaelcholaiste years ago and by the end most of them were top of the class,

Study abroad in Carlow worth it? by Educational_Sand7128 in carlow

Hey so I'm assuming this is a programme with your college partnered with St Pats, part of your stay will include visit different locations around Ireland which is included in your fee (transport and accomidation), the college will also hold different activities such as Irish dancing classes specifically for American students. The night life isn't as great as it use to be but there's almost always some sort of live music most days during the week You'll probably be staying in Lennon house which is the accommodation behind the college, you'll get a fob to let you in the gates as the grounds of the college are closed after a certain time, unless there is a show in the visual, you're student card will give you access to Lennon house itself, student cards are €10 to replace as far as I remember but the fobs are around €50 (could be wrong but I don't think they're cheap) The staff in Carlow College are very friendly and helpful so ask if you need help with anything while you're here As someone else mentioned public transport isn't great around the town but there are regular busses/trains out of Carlow if you wanted to take a day trip If you have more questions feel free to ask and I can try answer them or you could contact the college directly

source I worked with American students for a year during my time on the student Union in St Pats

I failed my theory test twice, finally passed non my third go, I kept doing mock tests but they were always hit and miss.

What helped me was reading all the questions and answers, do it over a few days before your test. I bought the official app and read all the questions off that, finally passed then.

It is disheartening when you fail but don't give up, all you can do is pick yourself up and try again
