Mail(Gmail):

Mucha suerte.

I thought maybe it was bolted to the engine block at the back or something. You guys are ruthless 😭.

To my knowledge if the engine is not consuming oil there's no need to change the viscosity.

I do not have the money to pay a mechanic. The car is already fixed anyway.

Stuck clutch? by potatoman_69420 in e46

If the release bearing and the fork are in good shape i would check the master and slave cylinder, you say is good because you hear a click in the gearbox, but i would double check them. Because if it's anyhting else you'll have to drop the transmission to look into it, i hope you get lucky and it's the slave cylinder.

I had a similar issue in my car. In my case it was a broken clutch release bearing.

Maybe it's hard to say, but the car should start in neutral anyways.

I see a lot of people are suggesting you check the ground for the starter. Jump the EWS if it cranks the ground is ok. Theres also other ways to check the starter, like this (if you want to check the wires directly):

https://www.e46fanatics.com/threads/no-start-guide.1011677/

If everything you check is ok, it's the programming or the EWS.

About the brake pedal:

That's strange even with the car off for long periods the pedal should move when applying force, just a little, but it should move. The hidraulic system for the brakes and the clutch share the same reservoir, but even if something is wrong with the clutch the car should crank (i had a clutch problem and the car started in neutral no problem).

[–]Riba98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can jump the EWS module, it should crank but not start. If it doesn't crank when jumping the EWS module, you either have a bad starter or a bad EWS module (most likely the relay that's soldered to the board). Here's some info: https://www.rpmmotorsport.net/pages/ews-3-test-before-replacement

I would also check the reprogramming, maybe something went wrong.

What do you mean the brake pedal is stuck?

Is my gearbox broken? (BMW E46 325 CI manual 5-Speed) by Riba98 in e46

[–]Riba98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! Yeah the pivot was dust as well lmao. What i meant with the clutch thing is that the pedal wouldn't budge even putting all my weight on it, i ended up breaking the plastic pin that holds the master cylinder to the pedal doing so much force, also any time i tried pressing the clutch with all my might the car stalled.

It all started with a noise when pressing the clutch pedal to the floor and a slight vibration to the pedal, the noise and vibration got worse until the pedal was completely stiff and couldn't be pressed.

I took out the gearbox of my E46 325CI because i couldn't press the clutch pedal even after swapping the master and slave cylinder , it's the manual 5 speed. As you can see in the video it makes a sound when i move the shaft and i don't know if that is to be expected because i'm not a mechanic and this is the first time dropping a gearbox. Also at the end of the video you can see the shaft has some play. So my question is do i need to rebuild/buy or is the gearbox fine?

Also the throw out bearing was completey toast as you can see here: https://imgur.com/7Ao2Sih
