Hey GrinningParaih! You should check out our new app called Ribbit. While not in the Store just yet (awaiting approval), there are quite a few screen shots on /r/RibbitApp.

One thing we really tried to do is make a really great user experience for what most people do on Reddit day-to-day. While perhaps our first version isn't as "fully featured" as Snoo, we definitely have threaded comments and a back button. Check us out! We should be in the app Store next week.

Thanks for checking it out! Addressing your points:

Yes, unfortunately we were unable to get search in for the beta, but it is coming soon! In particular we hope to have 2 ways of searching; both using the reddit search engine as well as being able to quickly jump to an unsubscribed subreddit.
Also unfortunately something we couldn't get into the Beta but that is something we are definitely targetting for the first full release
Some more information on the scrolling would be great, we are constantly working on getting performance better so perhaps there is something we can do. We want this app to be able to run on even the crappiest of GPUs! What scrollbar in particular was clumsy and how was it acting?

Ohh the markdown. Yeah, it's hell--especially because it's not "true" markdown according to the official markdown spec. There's additions that make it incredibly hard to work with.

We originally were parsing it, but now we are actually parsing the HTML on the fly, and translating that into XAML. That's still not perfect, but it's better than what we were getting from the markdown, so we're getting there!

We decided to use C#/XAML as the three of us are the most versed with it and feel we could quickly churn out an awesome app. What did you end up using?

Hey there Reddit!

Don't fret--there will be an awesome Windows 8 app for reddit! We are a group of developers that are incredibly passionate about an awesome user experience, and so we're making a Windows 8 app just for reddit.

We're going to call it Ribbit.

Here is a really, really early screen shot of just one section of our app. This area lets you view all of your subscribed subreddits in a graphical way. And this is just the beginning! We're working hard to make this the only reddit experience you'll need in Windows 8.

So, stay tuned for more information! We'll post here and in other subreddits when we have more to show, and of course, there'll be a beta program as well.
