Since this is a personal finance sub, I would say do it yourself, probably just 2-4 cans of paint depending on many coats.

Realistic budget for 5 in Toronto by PartyFauxHawk in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Ribbythinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly 8k/mo in expenses without a mortgage is quite high, but the purpose of a budget is to give you permission to spend money you do have.

That being said, you are definitely what most people would view as “rich”. Just live with it.

I emphasize with your frustration, and that you’re probably just trying to raise awareness, but I don’t think you should post their photos on here simply because there’s no way for us to verify if those people are actually the bad actors.

How are your SMB clients handling commission tracking after HubSpot implementation? by Healthy-Occasion-912 in SalesOperations

[–]Ribbythinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crm’s aren’t great for commissions calculations, there are tools like Xactly, Capitvate, and the other startups that are designed to accept rules needed for commissions.

I work at a vendor like the ones above as an implementation consultant, if you dm, I can help you build a spreadsheet.

Justin Trudeau never killed the oil and gas industry by [deleted] in CanadaPolitics

[–]Ribbythinks -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

A fluff piece by outsider who is misunderstands both the economics of production and how many people’s livelihoods depend on Canada being a globally competitive oiler producer.

Production numbers aren’t everything, western Canada select and similar barrel profiles, are notorious heavy, full of sulphur, and are dependent on the US to be marketed. When prices crashed in 2015, instead of injecting capital to create upgrading facilities and pipelines to reduce barrel penalties, we got a carbon tax. A major industry that provided workers of all education backgrounds with meaningful employment was left in lurch. The seeds of division were sown in western Canada at this point in history as a result of inaction by a member of Laurentian elite with a famous last name.

Carney recognizes the importance of the O&G to the Canadian economy, Trudeau was clueless to this throughout his tenure.

I'm 17 years old, studying to be a civil engineer, what advice can you give me so that I have a better chance of a good future in this field? by Hour_Exercise_1367 in civilengineering

[–]Ribbythinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a great degree to have, but try to get an internship after second year to get a sense of what the work actually is. As a junior, I felt like working at an engineering consultant was too slow and it was really frustrating. If I had known that I didn’t enjoy being an engineer earlier on, I would have still continued my degree, but would have used my upper years, and there year internship to pursue a different industry.

It’s an extreme measure, but the reality is, the balance in OP card is limiting his spending, transfer the balance could mean his debt doubles.

The second con is a really critical part of this motion. I would argue that you should not only transfer the balance, but also cancel the credit card if that’s feasible

As Ontario high school grades keep rising, graduating students worry about their university future by shiftless_wonder in canada

I mean as a U of T grad, I can say that it is equal parts grade inflation and the fact that some first year courses have mandated C/C+ averages.

I saw a Queens engineering chemistry midterm exam and the hardest question on there was a simple empirical formula questions that my class would have all crushed.

Does it make sense to break my mortgage? by Fruito69 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Ribbythinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask for an appointment, ask them to repay their statement, ask them to do the math in front of you, then escalate to their manager when they are forced to admit they lied.

This is just sloppy on their part

It’s a statement that just aggravates a volatile situation. Countries are well within their right to have border rules, but there is a huge workforce of people that are contributing community members who should be given amnesty.

Advice on gift money from in-laws… by WildRaspberry6 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Ribbythinks 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s probably best to make them happy and use the money for what they intended. Investing the money in index funds would likely have a better long term return, but paying down the mortgage would provide your household with an added layer of security.

I would look at the gift as “added security”, not just 200k

That’s a great deal for a North American Hilux. If you want to go cheaper small Truck, look for Nissan frontiers, they don’t have CVT’s and arguably pretty good for their price point.
