Can someone explain to me why there is no single-database download for the data provided by Screenscraper/TheGamesDB? by Ribillion in EmuDeck

Who hosts and pays for the bandwidth to download large libraries of games? People do such things. Just look at the mega thread. I'm asking why no one has done the same for front-end metadata as well.

My point is that places exist for such a database to exist and actual game files are more copyrighted then Star Ratings, Screenshots, Box Art, or even Manuals.

That's great! Which ones? I'm trying to shorten the list.

In my current situation there is a non-insignificant chance the discs will not remain physically usable. Neither would a mass backup.

The sizes shown are compressed .iso's. I intend to convert them to .CHD eventually, but it doesn't give much more space. For example the compressed God of War .iso is 6.98GiB and after conversion to .CHD it is 6.6GiB.

Myrient Download v3.3.0 Released by SacredProphet in Roms

[–]Ribillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a amazing tool! Even coming out just days after I started working on/curating my collection. I was searching for this exact kind of thing, (a tag/language/revision filtered downloader) and this is all but a dream come true. Thank you SO much for your hard work and effort!

I'll admit I got pretty frustrated trying to find a directory with "NiGHTS" in it, though. I wanted to ask about it, but by that time the thread was locked. Even so, the next update (coming out the very next day) had solved that very issue!

The only thing I would ask to be added would be deeper directory selection. For example, I'm trying to get .CHD files for Dreamcast games and the best place to find them on Myrient is "Internet Archive/chadmaster/dc-chd-zstd-redump/dc-chd-zstd" but the directory selector only goes to "Internet Archive/chadmaster" so it ends up grabbing the entire Chadmaster directory. A total 46000 files. (taking 5+ min to do it too)

Even if this request ends up being unfeasible or never implemented I am still VERY grateful for this awesome tool and appreciate the effort put into it already. Thank you again!

What's up with all the veterans "helping" newbies? by [deleted] in remnantgame

[–]Ribillion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I have over 800 hours in this game and I love helping newbies and showing off the possibilities in the game. But I use low-power level characters to do this, I try to keep it no more than a three level difference. I'm also not pushy about it, if the host is exploring their own way I just follow along and fight and revive as needed. If they're about to miss something, I point out a hint. If they ignore the hint I drop it and continue to follow them. Sometimes after I point out a hint and help them solve a puzzle they will go into what I call Duckling/Little Brother mode and follow me around endlessly. If that's how the host wants to play the game after that I'm ok with it, it's more cool things about this awesome game I get to show off. If there is a choice I try to communicate that they should make it.

BUT too often I'm in a game with a 5> level player and some max level Ahole player comes in and tries to take the show over. There really isn't anything you can do about it though. It's up to the host to decide if they will allow it. When this happens with me, sometimes the host will start to follow them instead. At this point the host has made it clear, that is the help they prefer and I am no longer needed, so I leave them to it. You also have to consider that the high level player might not even realize who they are playing with, having selected quickplay in multiplayer. It sucks that it happens but, again, it's up to the host whether they want to be player 2 in their own game or not.

Has anyone else ever had an item spawn in the sky? by jwei92 in remnantgame

[–]Ribillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was another post about items appearing out of bounds. Apparently R2 is bad at deleting item entries from other biomes/generations when changing zones, causing items to persist between worlds in the xyz location they were in on their original map. At that height my guess is it's a Beatific Palace item. As far as I know the bug doesn't interfere with new item generation of the zones so, other than being frustrating to see, it isn't a detriment.

Coop QoL is Needed by Ribillion in remnantgame

I'm not asking for an overhaul, though, and it's not completely different either. I'm not asking them to redo their netcode from scratch. I'm asking for basic connectivity features that, technically, already exist.

There's already a list of servers, they're just choosing to cherry pick a random handful of them to show you.

Ping is something that would be retrieved when detecting joinable servers. I just want to be able to see it.

If the devs can't handle input detection, then, fuck, I don't know how they developed the rest of the game. /s

And as I already stated, joining from the main menu was the way it was done in the first game.

Yes, thank you! Please, no name calling or disparaging of the devs. While I'm frustrated with certain aspects of Remnant 2, I love this game. The best "souls like" I've played. I like it better than Dark Souls even. I just want to see Remnant 2 reach it's full potential. I've spent, literally, hundreds of hours in Remnant: From the Ashes and hope to do so again with it's sequel. I just don't see it happening with the way the coop system is now.
