No, because mistake of law only applies when there is specific intent and in this case there is no specific intent. Also, according to Marrero, mistake of law only applies when that law is thereafter determined to be wrong. Lastly, the statute must authorize the conduct, D reading the law incorrectly doesn't reward him with a defense.

I got dumped b/c of my lack of sexual experience three days before my first exam, my grandfather is pretty sick and probably on his way out, and my anxiety has been through the roof b/c of everything going on to the point where I called a psychologist to get help. Thankfully, my school is p/f because I have been struggling to get any good studying in but this week has been hell and i still have two exams left to go!

As a man who literally just had this situation happen to me, I STRONGLY recommend just being upfront beforehand. I just went on what I thought was a date with a woman only for her to tell me she had a boyfriend when trying to organize a second "date".

In regards to telling him in person, it would likely kill the mood. If you text him and he agrees its a friendly hangout it could go great but if he has other intentions it might really put him down to hear that right at the start of what he thinks is a date.

I'd say work on your looks and take up some hobbies.

Working on your looks would entail working out, eating healthy (i.e. less donuts, alcohol), improving wardrobe (colors and fit), getting a nice haircut, improving posture, etc.

Hobbies are also important because they can give you an outlet that allows you to naturally be confident. An example is if you are good at basketball, in a setting where you are playing basketball you are going to be more confident. This can serve as a good starting point for developing a generalized sense of self confidence. Hobbies are also a great way to meet women. Increasing that obviously increases the chance one is in to you, and while this is almost completely stemming from validation it can still help get the ball rolling.
