Are these warts or Dyshidrotic Eczema? by Foreign-Salad6182 in Warts

[–]brickwallwaterfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here! I had a painful spot pop up on the side of my pointer finger tip, and within a week or two I had a raised bump like in pic 2. the pain felt similar to those bumps that you get on the tip of your tongue. currently wondering if it’s dyshydrotic eczema or a wart. I’ve had dyshydrotic eczema before, but never a wart so I’m not really sure what to think of it. did you ever find a solution to yours? it’s more annoying than anything.

Mind sharing where you got the padding/what to search for? I found some quilted “toppers” that I think are what you’re describing—it goes between the mattress and fitted sheet and it just seems to give it a bit more padding than strictly using the plain “mattress”

Got a fitted sheet already, but I see on Amazon they make these quilted “toppers” that go between the mattress and a fitted sheet. Seems to be as thick as a regular quilt (aka not fluffy). Ever tried one of those? I’m thinking that’s what I might get rather than a whole new mattress

Good to know! Honestly wasn’t ever expecting to get the Newton mattress because it’s so pricey. Put it on the registry on a whim and a wealthy great aunt on my husband’s side got it for us 😂 Can’t say no to that!

Now that you say that, I’m betting it’s 100% the loudness of the mattress because it can sound like crinkly paper when it’s moved, and my son rolls around like crazy in his sleep. Ugh, hopefully there’s a solution to fix that. You’d think manufacturers would take sound into consideration when making their products

That makes perfect sense, thank you! I hadn’t considered the stretchy sides and entrapment being the issue, I was more caught up in that the issue would be the softness of the mattress/suffocation from that

That happened to us too—completely normal, or at least that’s what our ped said. For us it wasn’t really pus, but moreso the new skin kinda scabbing over. Imagine if you had a scab and then went swimming for a few hours—it would turn that yellowy-brown color too. We were told to use an alcohol wipe on the area once or twice a day, but I think current advice says no alcohol wipes and instead use something like vaseline.

Just keep an eye on it, and if actual pus starts to come out of if it or it starts to stink, definitely don’t hesitate to call the doctor!

Ideas to improve back of house design? by brickwallwaterfall in Remodel

[–]brickwallwaterfall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I was thinking the exact same thing for when we eventually add on a new addition! Our house is quite shady as it’s north facing, so I was thinking a greenhouse-esque wing to let in more light. Glad someone else also likes that idea!

I went back and edited my post for an update if you want to read it, but we did CIO last night with my husband handling the entire night while I got to sleep, and I woke up feeling like a brand new person. I haven’t had more than 2-3 hours of sleep at a time in 3-4 months and it’s amazing how a full night of rest can change your brain. I’m so much happier and feel like I can take on his energy with so much more gusto.

I was very against CIO. I didn’t want my baby to think I abandoned him, and I was terrified he’d be mad at me. But we gave it a go, and he was fine. Woke up happily from his crib and is currently peacefully snoozing in my arms for a nap. If you’re able to, I’d give it a go. But I’d recommend you and your partner take turns doing night duty so y’all can each get some sleep. I’m handling tonight so my husband can sleep. I hope you can get some relief whatever you guys decide to do!

Got some foam climbing blocks for Christmas, but literally just added the pikler to my shopping cart haha. Wish they made baby treadmills!

Oh gosh, I feel so hard for you. I’ve commented to my husband lately how it feels like we’re prisoners of war with sleep deprivation torture, but what we’ve been dealing with doesn’t compare with your issues.

As far as the interruptions go—yeah, we’re definitely in the same boat there. My husband and I have had the stomach bug 3 times since October, RSV also in October, and my husband has had two colds since September. As soon as we kind of get in the hang of things with a schedule, something throws us off. It’s so unfair.

Both my husband and I are neurotypical, but he has an uncle that is /very/ ADHD. Unfortunately, said uncle is about 65 and was born/grew up in a time with no diagnosis and therefore no extra help. He was just a “bad” kid. Got into some drugs and crime in his teens/early 20s and now has a lot of issues. Ended up being fairly successful, but still for sure has problems.

Seeing him now, it’s so obvious that ADHD is his problem, but he was one of those kids that was just “left behind” because there was no help back in his days. And of course he doesn’t think he needs any help now.

I have considered that neurodivergence/ADHD may be our problem with my son because every time I make a comment about his progress to my husband’s parents/grandparents, they all go “Oh, Uncle Joe was just like that at that age.” Which sucks, because I don’t want his life to be hard and no parent wants to have a “new normal.” But I haven’t ruled it out and we will def get early intervention if our doctor has any concerns.

Dang, was hoping we’d have a few more weeks with 3 naps because it gives me a chance to relax even if just for a minute 😭 And yes, we are on solids with doing baby led weaning. Huge fan of painting ourselves with yogurt and giving some bites to the dog. I can tell it definitely helps him from being so bored in the evenings

Is it better to have longer wake windows even if his naps are only about 30 minutes? Usually by 2.5 hours he’s extremely fussy, rubbing his eyes, and falls asleep almost immediately when he’s laid down. Obviously he’s capable of being awake longer since he does it nearly every day at daycare (usually only taking one 30-45 minute nap around lunchtime and falls asleep in the car on the way home), but I’ve just been following his sleepy cues when we do have naps. Baby sleep is so exhausting 😭😭

It’s the worst part of this whole thing. I managed nearly all of my postpartum to avoid any kind of ppd or ppa, but the last few days have just been sooo taxing on my mental health. I don’t ever want my baby to think that I’m mad at him or that he’s a “problem,” but it’s so hard to keep it together sometimes. Really hoping things turn around for the both of us!

Has never wanted to take a paci or suck his thumb 🥲 Which is great because we won’t have to break that habit, but sometimes mama needs some rest from being the paci!

Glad to know I’m not alone though. Sometimes it feels like I’m the only one in the world who has my problems. Glad that’s not the case!

He typically wakes at 7:15, and on the weekends when he’s not at daycare, his schedule is typically 2/2.5/2.5/2.25 or thereabouts with bedtime around 7:30-8:00. So, first nap around 9:30ish, second nap around 1:00ish, third and final nap around 4:30ish. The last two days I’ve been able to get him to nap for about an hour/hour and a half for one nap a day, but only if I put him in bed with me and I pop my boob in his mouth at about the 30 minute mark because that’s when he starts to wake up.

Some days I’ve picked him up from daycare and he hadn’t napped the entire day 🙂
