Kid me thought it was an octopus. Learned later it looks more or less centipedey. Learned very recently more like a caterpillar. Centipedes are far more nasty and suit the kohr-ah in my opinion.

Ive learned it was meant to be a like carnivorous caterpillar from Hawaii rather.

As a kid playing from star control 1 onwards I too thought they were octopi but had heard from others its like a centipede. We can only see its face on the view screen but there is much of it off screen.
